My team and I stood at the large fence that surrounded the Forest of Death. I looked at Hikari who stood unfazed then at Hikaru who was staring at the forest in awe. Me, on the other hand, was scared out of my wits. I have to go in there? However, the Hokage's words from my meeting with him yesterday provided some comfort.

FLASHBACK

Ibiki dismissed us and the remaining of the ninjas that passed walked out the room in a daze and disbelief.

"Hold up Tategami," said Ibiki, stopping me in my tracks. "Lord Hokage wants to see you."

"Lord Hokage?" I asked.

"Haku," said Ibiki.

"Hai," said Haku as he walked from the corner of the classroom to Ibiki's side.

"Take her to Lord Hokage please," said Ibiki. Suddenly, he caught me but the upper arm and literally threw me to Haku. Haku caught me just in time, before my face hit the floor. My face had shock written all over it, as I looked at Ibiki. He scoffed a 'weak' and disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"I looked at your test paper," said Haku while straightening me up. We began walking towards the Hokage's office. "You got all right. So how did you do it?"

"I knew the answers," I said with a smirk.

"No you didn't," he chided. "Whose paper did you copy from?"

"The mist ninja next to me," I said with a bright smile.

"Oh you mean Tamaka Hoshii," he said.

My eyes widened. "You know her?"

"Yeah," he said. "She is the daughter of a rich Tycoon in the rich part of the Mist. I did a mission for them before. She had a major crush on me."

"Oh," I said. I felt a small pang in my chest.

'That doesn't mean he liked her back, silly.' said a voice in my head.

Before I could have question the voice, we arrived at the Hokage's office.

"Ah, miss Tategami, come in," said the old man before we even knocked. "You too, Haku."

We both walked in, and bowed to show or respects. The old man was hidden behind a wall of paper work.

"Hello, Lord Hokage," I said with a slight giggle.

"Congratulations in passing the first round, young Mayuki," said Lord Hokage while making a path in the paper so that he can see us. "Since we are just lending you to the village hidden in the Clouds, you are still a ninja of the leaf, however, something seemed to slip my mind. You are not even registered as a genin as yet."

I smile and rubbed the back of my head. "I was hoping that you forgot."

Lord Hokage pulled a blue head band from a drawer in his desk. "Tell you what," he said. "Let's make a deal. Make it to the third round and you can skip the clone jutsu exam and become a leaf genin. However, if you manage to become a chunin, you will keep your status as one, but you must be properly trained."

I nodded my head. "Sounds simple enough."

Yeah right, simple... as if Orochimaru won't be lurking though the whole thing.
