HAKU

I had just come back home from training around 3am. The house was still empty, that meant that Zabuza and Mayuki were still training.

I walked pass the mirror and studied my reflection, and boy was I dirty.

Maybe after my bath they'll be back.

After my shower, I exited out the bathroom. My long dark brown hair was dripping wet from the shower, and I felt clean and refreshed. As I was about t head to my room, the front door squeaked open.

I'm guessing they're back. I went to greet them, but I was surprised to see that only Zabuza came back.

My heart began to race, but why? Mayuki and I had only known each other for a few days, a week the most. Why did I feel scared that she didn't come back? Why was I reacting as if I have known her forever, as if she was important to me?

"Where's Mayuki-chan?" I asked Zabuza in the calmest manner I could have conjured up.

"I left her at the training clearing," said Zabuza nonchalantly. He plopped himself on the couch and sighed. "To be honest, she's one tough girl."

I raised a brow at him.

"She kept up with my tai for 3 hours straight, and I treat her like a genin," explained Zabuza. "I couldn't even find the strength to bring her back here."

"So you left her?" I asked. "Didn't stay?"

"Yup," he said them promptly passed out from exhaustion.

I just shook my head and went to find her.

MAYUKI

I was lying in the middle of a clearing unable to move andy part of my body other than my arms. I had overworked myself trying to fight off Zabuza. Luckily for me I had that Kekke Genkai that allows me to see his moves seconds in advanced, but unfortunately, it used up almost all of my chakra. Zabuza told me that he would send Haku back for me. It's been about a half an hour by now. I can get kidnapped from the akatsuki or something. I rolled my eyes and sighed.

I was completely zoned out until I heard someone land next to me.

"Who's that?" I asked. I was scared and my heart was beating fast.

"It's just me, Mayuki-chan," came Haku's calm and soothing voice. Immediately I felt at ease.

"Hi Haku-kun," I said with a small smile on my face. "Zabuza did a number on me huh?"

"Yes he did," he replied with a small chuckle.

I gasped when I felt his arms slide under my back and legs as he scooped me up. I barely put my sore arms around his neck. I stared at the wonderful cloudless sky. Stars littered the sky for miles, which made me instead of just leaping through the trees home, want to walk and stare at the sky.

"Haku-kun," I said. "Is it okay if we walked? I want to stare at the sky."

"No problem," he said and I smiled. "Aren't you tired?"

"Yes I am, but there is just something about the beautiful night sky that keeps me awake," I explained to him.

"Ah, I see," he said, and then we lapsed into comfortable silence.

I don't know when or how it happened, but my gaze shifted from the sky to Haku. His wonderful chocolate brown hair was damp. He probably just came out of the shower. My eyes flickered to his eyes that were keeping aware of our surroundings. They were chocolate brown and reminded me of the Hershey's kisses. My eyes then diverted to his nose. It was straight and perfect. It suited his soft face. His lips were pressed into a line, but it wasn't one of annoyance or anything. His face was just at rest. Haku was really handsome, and his features became even more beautiful under the lights of the stars and moon.
