Hey so there are some triggers in this preference, specifically mentions of self-harm and anorexia. Read carefully, and if you're struggling with anything like that, tell somebody please, you could even tell me if you wanted. I love you guys!

Joe Trohman:

"Nate, Ruby, come down here and eat dinner!" You called, setting the plates on the table in their respective places. "Joe, come on."

He bounded from his La-Z-Boy chair and into the kitchen. "Mmm, lasagna." Joe wrapped his arms around your waist. "You're too good to me." He kissed you quickly.

"Ok ew." Nate groaned as he walked into the kitchen. "I think I lost my appetite."

Joe rolled his eyes. "Oh shut it. You've watched worse than this, I've seen your search history."

Nate's face reddened and his mouth snapped shut.

"That's a conversation for another time." You disentangled yourself from Joe and took a seat. "Where's Ruby?"

"Right here." Ruby walked into the room, a look of pure dread on her face. "Lasasgna?"

You nodded. "Your favorite, extra cheese and everything."

Ruby held her stomach. "I'm feeling sick, I don't think I'm gonna eat dinner tonight. Is that okay?"

"Do you want soup?" Joe asked. "I could make you some."

Ruby shook her head. "I'm okay." She pretty much fled the room.

She most definitely was not okay and Joe picked up on that immediately.

"Well." Nathan pulled his sister's plate towards him. "More for me."

"I thought you weren't hungry." You raised an eyebrow.

Nate shrugged. "Seasons change."

Joe slid his plate towards Nate. "I'm gonna go talk to Rue." He whispered to you and stood.

He knocked on his daughter's door softly. "Rue. Can I come in?"

There was no response.

He opened the door slowly. Ruby was curled in a ball in the middle of her bed.

"Go away daddy." She mumbled quietly, eyes shining with tears.

Joe couldn't help but remember a time years ago when he had this same talk with his daughter.

"Can we talk?" Joe asked, sitting beside her and opened his arms. "What's wrong? Why won't you eat?"

Ruby cuddled into them. "I'm not skinny enough." She whispered. "All these other girls run around eating whatever they want whenever and are still a size 3 and I'm not them."

"How long?" Joe wrapped his arms around his daughter tighter.

"A-a month." Ruby admitted, crying harder.

"Baby girl." Joe whispered, wiping off her cheeks. "That's what makes you beautiful. And just because you're not a size 3 doesn't mean you're less beautiful than them. You don't need to starve yourself to be smaller. You're already perfect, and if anyone can't see that then they don't deserve your attention."

Ruby bit her bottom lip and cried harder into Joe's chest.

"It's okay Rue." Joe whispered, rubbing her back. "You're good enough Ruby, you're worth so much more than you think. You're so beautiful, my perfect little girl; and I really hope someday you can see that on your own. But until then, I'll be here to remind you."
