-Taylor POV-

"You pick the movie and I'll go pop the popcorn." I told Shawn already halfway to the kitchen. I grabbed a big bowl and two bags of popcorn to pop. I put one bag in the microwave.

"Okay. We can do that. Okay. Talk to you tomorrow. Bye." My mom hung up the phone. "Movie night?" I nodded my head. "It good to see you and Shawn getting alone." She grabbed a bag of grapes out of the fridge. "It's going to be weird one day he might just be you uncle-in-law."

I hadn't really thought of things like that. "Yeah. It will be weird since we're the same age." She nodded her head in agreement. "How was that on the phone?" I said remembering her conversation.

"Just Liz." It wasn't weird for Mrs. Hemmings to call every once in a while and talk to mom or coming over and hang out. "She wanted us to do her a favor."

"What kind of favor?" I asked being extra nosy.

"She wanted Mark to cater a party for her and she ask if we can host it here."

"Here? What wrong with her house?"

"She needed a bigger place to hold the boys welcome home party and Mark said it will be easier to do everything from here."

"Welcome Home party?" I asked hooked on those three words. "For the boys. Michael, Calum, Ashton, and Luke?"

My mom gave me a sorry look. "I'm sorry I didn't realize... Taylor?"

I couldn't find the words to say. "I..." The microwave beeped. I grabbed the popcorn out of the microwave and poured it in the bowl. "I just don't understand why you said yes."

"Honestly because I didn't put two and two together, but I don't take it back. Listen Taylor I know what happened between you and Luke but that don't have anything to do with me. I wanted to help a friend out so I offered my house and I don't see a problem with that."

"A problem?" I asked raising my voice. "My you saw first hand how fucked up I was the last three months because of Luke. Why would you host a party for him? Do you see the Fucking problem?"

"Don't you ever you use that type of language with me." She said with a stern voice. "Second this is my house I can do whatever the hell I want to do because this is my goddamn house!"I could feel the tears welling in my eyes. "I'm sorry that it has to be this why but it is Taylor."

"Me too." I grabbed the bag of popcorn and headed to the basement. I sat the popcorn me and Shawn. I wiped the tears as they fell.

Shawn must have noticed because he paused the movie. "Are you crying?" I shook my head. "Taylor?"

"I'm fine Shawn." He gave me one more look and then played the movie. I wasn't really paying attention even though I tried. Layla jumped in my lap. I scratched the back of her head and  focus all of my attention on the movie.

I woke up early the next morning for school. I grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom. I made sure this time not to sing in the shower. I finished getting dressed and headed upstairs. To my surprise Emma was up making breakfast. "Morning Em."

"Morning sweetie. Would like some breakfast?"

"Would I ever?" She placed the plate of mouthwatering food in front of me. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." She walked over to the coffee pot and made herself a cup of coffee. "How are you?"

"Good. Great." She gave me that look telling me she know I'm lying. "Honestly I don't know."

"Does it have to do something with the boy named Luke?" I looked at her. Did Mark really tell his mom my business?  "I overheard you and Janet last night." She said answering my unspoken question.

"Sort of." I stared at my plate. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course."

"Why is love so hard? I mean, why go through so much to be with someone and finding out you two can't even be together in the end?"

She shrugged her shoulders. "I have been asking myself the same questions for years and still hadn't got an answer." I looked away with dismay. "But I do know that everything always worked out in the end. You just have to wait for it."

"That's all I been doing. Waiting, waiting, waiting."

"Do you want to hear a story?" I shrugged my shoulders. "Many, many, many years ago when I was about your age, my mother died of cancer."

"I'm sorry about your lost."

"Thank you." She twisted the bracelet on her wrist. "I fell into a deep depression. I didn't eat, sleep, I was kinda just there to take up space. My father was scared out of his mind. He sent me to a therapist to try to get me to talk about my problems. It worked and my dad got a better job on the this side of Australia. A couple of days before we left I had dream. A dream about I boy I had never met a day in my life. I didn't know his name." Emma story was starting to sound like my own story. "When we moved here, I just happened to but into the man of my dream. Literally." We both laughed at that. "At first we weren't even together because he had a girlfriend. But as time went on he eventually left her and we got together. Our story didn't end there. So many times we broke up over little stupid stuff, but somehow we always came back together. We raised two wonderful boys together, celebrated many great anniversary together." She looked down at her watch. "He died last year."

"I'm so sorry to hear that."

"Thank you but it's alright. I know he's in a better place." Emma grabbed my hand and looked at me. "What you have to realize Taylor is if things are really suppose to be it will be. No matter what the universe throws at it, it will happen." I nodded my head. "I think its time for you to go to school." I looked down at my phone. Ten minutes before the first bell rung. I picked up my plate, but Emma took it from me. "Let me do this. You get to school."

I grabbed my stuff and headed towards the door. "See you later Emma." I called over my shoulder. I got in my car and zoomed to school. I made it to my class with a minute to spare.
