Chapter 44

*6 months ago, the day Nikki and Chase met, but what if one thing changed. Would they still be together?*

Bree's POV

This is completely unfair! I have to do training today so I can't go to school. I have a life. Unlike the two bozos that I call brothers, I have a life outside of school. "At least you don't have to go to school" Chase says finishing his outfit change with a pair of sketchers. The girl makeover may have been the highlight of my day "you don't understand, Jamie and Gwen are throwing this huge party and invitations are going out today" I explain as he rolls his eyes. "Who says you would've got one?" he teases "I know people who got one" he scoffs with a smile and looks at me "who?" he asked and I immediately went through a list. My friends aren't nobodies but they just weren't part of that popular clique. But there is one, "Nikki Davis" I name and he raises an eyebrow "who?" clueless as always. "She's really popular. She should be invited. And maybe she can take a guest" "good luck with that" he says grabbing his book sack and leaving out the door with Adam and Leo.

Nikki and I weren't close. But we were friends. She was really sweet and nice. I wonder how things would go if we ever became best friends?

Chase POV

"Then the pig zombie launched 50 feet in the air,crashed through a car window, and took out a guy. The movie was incredible!"he exclaims as we walk through the school doors. That's all he's been talking about is that stupid movie. It doesn't even go by real logic.

I was wondering since Bree brought it up "hey do you guys know who Nikki Davis is?" I ask. Adam looks uneasy but answers normally "no, never heard of her" he shrugs. "Nikki's the hottest girl in school! You know, beside Janelle" Leo babbles on. I roll my eyes. That still doesn't answer my question. "Look she's sitting over there" Leo points to the middle of the entrance. There I spot the prettiest girl I've ever seen. She had long blonde hair, dazzling diamond eyes,and I'm talking girly. I had to admit she was hot. She was looking around like she was looking for someone. But other then that she was sitting alone. "You should go talk to her" Adam suggests "what? Me?" I question "yeah you. Just make up some excuse to talk to her. Now go!" Leo and Adam start to push me until I'm standing right beside her.

I get really nervous as she acknowledges my presence. "Oh, hi" she greets giving off a dimpled smile. I wish that chip I ate this morning would give me some confidence, but so far all it's giving me is a headache. "Hi" I choke out. She stands in front of me "I'm Nikki" she holds out her small hand "I'm Chase" I say shaking it. She sits back down "did you need something?" she asks curiously. "Ugh..I" I try to come up with something. "I-I gotta go" I just give up. I back up to take off down the hall but I back straight into some kid with a purple soda. The substance went spilling all over Nikki's hair. She screamed at what happened and shot up. "I am so sorry!" I apologize as she looks at me, trying to hold a smile "um ok. I gotta go before my hair turns purple. But it was nice meeting you, sorta" she says running off to the bathroom. Good going Chase! She tries being nice to you, and you drench her in soda.

Finally, chemistry. Something I'm good at. The subject in school, obviously not having chemistry. As I sit down I notice Nikki sit in one of the chairs behind the island. I should apologize. I get up and start over to Nikki. "Nikki?" I ask as she looks at me and flinches "please don't spill anything else on me" she begs "oh I wont! I just came here to say I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get that all over you" I say and she smiles "it's ok" she accepts. "I was thinking of getting highlights anyway" she jokes. I chuckle at her cute humor "I really didn't mean to make your hair purple" I apologize "it's fine! Hey, I got in tell about our teacher letting us partner up today. You can make up the hair thing by being me partner" she negotiates with a playfully push of my shoulder. "Deal" I say smiling as she winks at me, making her dimples cave deeper. I felt my cheeks blush as I go to walk back to my seat but Nikki stops me "and Chase?" I turn to show she has my attention. "I really didn't mean to turn your cheeks pink" she says while making my cheeks heat worse. I smile and walk back to my seat. Nikki's really something.

After the project was discussed, we were packing up. Nikki was really funny and sweet. Flinched every time I moved but I don't blame her.

Nikki's POV

At first, I thought he was really cute. Then he messed with my hair and made it purple. But I forgave him. I wanted to see what kind of guy he is. Aside from what I already know. Clumsy, nervous, cute, and could dye your hair in under ten minutes. He was funny. I wasn't in his height with intelligence so he humored me with explaining what each thing ment. I was smart but things confused me. He was really nice to be with. I'd love to have a best friend like him.

Right now I was on his way to his house. I got the address from him before we left class. When I arrived at the house I gaped at the giant monument of a place. "Wow" I said under my breathe. I go to knock on the door but Chase opened the door before I could. "I told you she's here!" a weird annoying voice said as Chase turned and yelled "go away Eddie!" he says before turning to me with a smile. "Hello Nikki" he greets. I smile an wave "hi Chase" I respond. He leads me in and I look around "who's Eddie?" I ask and Chase stiffens. I can feel his kind racing with answers. "My ugh uncle" I shrug. Good I guess. "Well let's get to work" he says turning the conversation subject.

I was tired of working after a few hours. His mom I think came in a couple times. She was sweet. I didn't know what to call her since I never knew Chases last name. Our hands brushed a couple times but I'm not sure what I felt. I want to know but I have no clue. After a few hours I decided it was time for me to go. "I think it's about time I go." I say while getting my stuff together. "You sure?" he asks and I nod. But then I got curious "Chase? What's your last name?" I ask and he smiled "it's Davenport" that last names familiar. Where have I heard it from? "do you have a brother?" I ask curiously and he nods "yeah, Adam" Adam Davenport. I knew that name was familiar. Suddenly this became very awkward. I'm in my ex boyfriends house, flirting with my ex boyfriends brother. Ok, now I really need to leave.

"Nikki are you ok?" Chase asked concerned. I probably have the face of someone who just put together what I just did. "I'm fine. I just really need to go" I say rushing out before this can get anymore weird. I'm scared that Adam will make things awkward. It's a shame. I bet Chase could make me happy

The plot of this is to see that one thing can change everything. Things usually for the worst. Maybe your mom never got that job that makes her away from home a lot or maybe your sister was never born. Things would be different.

Because of Bree being held back for training, Nikki never had the person to introduce her to Chase. So Chase had to try himself. So they never had that cute Speical first impression. And it ended in her leaving because she didn't think it would be sane to give her ex boyfriends brother a chance.
