Chapter 51

Nikki's POV

"Guys! Guys!" I yell as I rush out the elevator. Davenport came over looking worried along with Bree and Adam.

"Nikki, what's wrong? Glitch? Where's Chase?" He asked.

"The temperature in the arctic tundra is dropping drastically and Chase went by himself to do the mission to prove he was worthy of being in the team." I explained and held the note out "here, he explained everything on this." I finished with giving Davenport the note. He quickly skimmed it

"He must've taken the machine built incase the mission ever was needed to be solved." He says looking off into space.

"We need to get him out've there before a avalanche goes off." Bree says looking just as worried as I do.

"C'mon." Davenport said as we followed him back to the lab

"Are you able to get ahold of him?" I asked as I peered over Davenports shoulder as he hastily typed the code to get into the camera attached to Chases helmet he brought.

"I might." He says typing a few last buttons before Chases face appears on the screen. Unaware were watching him.

"Chase!" Davenport calls out. Chase looks around

"Davenport?" He asked

"There's a camera to your helmet Chase. We can see you, you can't see us." He explains as Chase nods and keeps walking.

"Chase, you need to put the mission on hold until Adam and Bree arrive." Davenport orders.

"What? No way! I'm doing this on my own!" Chase protests

"Chase, an avalanche can go off any moment. You need to find Bree and Adam so you can do this more afficantally." Davenport explains

"I'm not stopping." Chase denies.

Davenport was about to say something else when I got in front the monitor.

"Chase? It's Nikki. You need to do this with a high change you'll be safe." I say calmly

"I'll be fine Nikki. I won't get hurt you don't have to worry." He assures me

"I'm not the one who needs to worry. If that avalanche doesn't kill you, I will." I threaten seriously. He's giving me a heart attack here, my boyfriend could get hurt at any moment. I wanted to be there and make sure he's ok but I can't. I have to help here.

"I think I rather talk to Davenport now." He says looking nervous about my threat.

"Fine, but just know that you need to do what's right and stay safe." I advice before getting away from the monitor. I stalk back and forth trying to calm myself.

Everything will be ok, Chase will come home without a problem, then I can show him how badly he scared me through Lola.

As mad and scared as I was that he'd pull a foolish and dangerous move like this, I wanted him safe and sound.

"Chase? Chase!" Davenport shouts as I rush over. The monitors black

"What's wrong? Where's Chase?" I ask trying to control my breathing.

"A avalanche occurred after he got the machine settled into the ground. He's stuck under ice." Davenport explains.

"I-I gotta go out there and save him." I say as Davenport grabs my shoulders and looks me in the eye

"You can't, Adam and Bree will find him. I need you here incase I need a super genius to figure this out." He says.

I could feel the lump in my throat rise as tears start to run down my cheeks.
