Chapter 50

Chase POV

"Woo!" We all cheered as we came back from a mission. Having it successfully be disengaged like hoped.

We all walked into the lab, putting down our things before taking a seat by the panel.

"Great job team! Bree,Nikki,Adam, you did great!" He congratulated. Forgetting to include me

"What about Chase?" Nikki asked

"Yeah, what about Chase?" I recapped

"You did great too. No one commands better then you." He says before walking to one of the screens.

"I did more then command." I said following him.

He turned to me and sighed

"You did, it's just, your the leader. You supervise mainly. You have the smarts,Bree has speed,Adam has strength,and well Nikki has everything." He says. My jaw dropped. He just shrugged and left. I went back to the bionic teens

"I can't believe he didn't give me any credit! I was there too!" I say whilst throwing my hands in the air. Nikki and walked over and wrapped her arms a around me

"And we couldn't have done it without you." She says before getting on tip of her toes and pecking my lips.

"It's just no fair, I'm just as important as you guys." I say as I hold Nikki. She nods but Bree and Adam are breathing in like they have something else in mind.

"What?" I ask. Bree sighs

"Look, your a great team member. It's just, you can't exactly fight with knowledge when you have the powers or a normal human being. Adam and I are mostly the fighting team. Nikki helps you until we need back up." She explains.

I can't believe my own siblings are telling me I'm not really part of the team.

"Yeah. No offense, but we could do it with just the three of us." Adam says. My heart dropped at this.

I'm important. I help them do the job right! Would they really do it without me?

"But we wouldn't because your part of the team and we need you." Nikki says looking in my eyes. I squeeze her to me as a silent thank you.

I'm still bummed out my own team members are telling me they can do it on there own without me. That hurts. We were trained to do this together, be a team, but apparently I'm not important enough to be remembered.

Nikki was hugging my side where she stood. She had her gear rested on my shoulder.

I'm scared to think Nikki's actually saying they need me is because I'm her boyfriend and she doesn't wanna hurt my feelings. That would really suck.

How could I prove I'm just as important?

"I'm going to go eat. Saving the world makes me hungry." Madam starts with rubbing his stomach. "I wonder if I should try that saying 'I'm so hungry I could eat a horse'" he finishes before looking in a daze as he walks to the elevator.

"I'm gonna make sure he doesn't." Bree said following him. Getting into the elevator before the bit metal doors close.

I sighed and walked over to the control panel.

My knowledge helps the team be successful. My telekinesis helps. But it's also powered by mind. Huh. Am I really part of the team? Even our leader says I'm not as important.

"You know, I wouldn't do any of this mission stuff without you right?" Nikki says while looking at her feet. Probably thinking I was mad at her.

"I know, I'm not mad at you." I say and she nods. "Come here." I say with my arms opens. She complies and fills the empty space. She was tense, I knew that she was scared of me being mad. She had a right too, the first time was the reason we broke up and she was put in danger. But Spike fell for her second personality so there's no harm I could really do.

I rubbed my hand up and down her back before kissing her head.

"One of these missions, your gonna be the one who they need. And you'll be exactly what it takes to be successful. I know it. I've seen it." Nikki words of encouragement helping a bit.

"I just wanna feel as important as you guys." I say as she looks up.

"You are, you just need to prove it to them." She says before kissing my lips in a sweet kiss.

"I gotta get out of this mission suit. I can barely breathe, I'll be back. We can do something to pass the time." She compromises as I nod.

"Just, look over things. I heard Davenport has been keeping an eye on the arctic glaciers. Maybe you can get some info on the that." She says before leaving in the elevator.

After she left, I took a look at the glaciers. They looked normal. But it cought my eye as the numbers on the temperature was raising every few minutes. The arctic was hearing? The snow was gonna soon start to melt and make the ocean flood, I gotta tell Davenport and her the guys.

I saw a machine I had been helping him work with was sitting on a table. It was labeled.

Frost Bite.

It must be for the glaciers! Now I really gotta go tell them so we can stop the world from flooding.

I rushed to the elevator when I was struck with an idea.

I know how to work this machine, I built it. I could use this, complete the mission, and show everyone I could do this on my own. I don't need them. I nod to myself after making up my mind and head over to supplies, getting ready to take on the arctic.

Nikki's POV

Finally I can breathe! I sighed in relief at the soft touch of my grey sweatpants and oversize sweatshirt.

I sat on my bed and thought about the mission.

Chase was a great help. We couldn't have done this without him, I when the Davenports would see that. It hurt to see his reaction to people denying his presence as needed. If I can't be bothered with seeing the outline of the entire mission, we need Chase there to do what he does best. They think they can use me to replace him. I never could. I'm still training. I don't know everything about supervising missions yet. Chase does. They should really give him credit.

I head down to the elevator to decide what Chase and I will do about passing time. Maybe a movie, or he could teach me how to play baseball. Just stuff that will make him feel better.

The doors opened to a lab that had no human life but mine. I walked around looking for Chase.

"Chase?" I called out. I got no response.

"Chase Davenport this is not funny! Come out!" I call out. But still no reply.

I was gonna call out again when a piece of cought my eye. It was taped to Chases capsule. I rushed over and read it.

Dear everyone,

The temperature in the arctic tundra is dropping at a fast rate. I took it upon myself to fix the problem myself. To show I can do this on my own. I can show my knowledge is needed advancely to succeed in a mission. I'll be back after the mission is complete

Chase is in the arctic tundra alone?! He can die out there! I'll be forever haunted knowing my mission suit was the reason I didn't stop him.
