Shuddering, Shaking

"Harmony?
What are you doing?"

I jump,
my skin prickling
at the sound of Father's voice.
Gruff and expectant.

I turn to face him.
He's standing at my doorway,
and I'm sitting at my desk.

"School work, Father."
I don't ask if he needs anything.
Last time I did,
he'd lashed out,
accusing me of wanting him gone.

And I do. I want it so bad.

"Come down and help your mother,
she's setting the table by herself.
Stop being lazy."

He turns and descends the stairs.
His last remark,
leaves my heart shaking -
shuddering in anger.

"Of course, I'll be right down."

I hate you.
