Aunt Eevie stays with us
for three weeks this time,
it's wonderful and frightening
because wonderful things
always end.
But I savor each moment nonetheless,
all thoughts of Orsai fading away.
Suki's cellphone is more of a toy,
despite looking the same as mine.
Aunt Eevie doesn't tell her,
scared that Suki will feel upset that
mine comes with a SIM card extra.
"Harmony,"
Aunt Eevie says to me, one night.
"I bought this for you so
you wouldn't have to hide it
in front of your mother."
She takes a breath,
"But still, don't let anyone else
know that this phone can actually
contact me."
Then she teaches me how to
delete my text messages
as a precaution.
