Zeira and Miria like me
they like it when I comb their hair
and when I play house with them
Though Miria is too young for house
she likes it when I play peek-a-boo
and when I pick her up
They like Suki too
and
because Father and Aoi are gone now
their cot's in our room.
It's a tight squeeze
but it's warm
and cozy
and makes me feel
a strange mix of
comfortable
and peaceful
at the same time.
Zaina sleeps with Suki and I
She sleeps on my right
while Suki's on my left
and we talk a lot
about school
about friends
even about Father
She tells us that
the way Father treats us
isn't right
that he should be
more caring
more loving
more everything
to us.
We tell her that
it's our fault
Mum left Father
and that's why
he's so mean to us
because we deserve it
She hugs us when we say this
and tells us
that if we want
we can go back to Japan
with her and Aunt Eevie and Miho
"I'd like that very much."
I hear Suki whisper
I nod slightly
in agreement
but then frown,
"I don't think we can leave now.
Because Zeira and Miria
need us
if we leave
who will take care of them?"
