The Golden Eyes ✔

Chapter 1: Locked Up

I sat on the cool floor in my Yukata. Silence surrounded me.  I was blindfolded but my eyes could see clearly through the blindfold.  I can see pretty far, easily sense things, and read minds.

My eyes are powerful, but I wasn't sure if it was a gift or curse.  In this clan, one person can wield such powerful eyes at a time.  The man who had these eyes before me Ren Suzuki, he was alive, but each day he grew weaker and weaker because I was born. The power of his eyes was flowing into me.

When I was born, my mother killed herself. Being granted with these eyes, the clan called it a curse. The person who would have the eyes, they'd call them a demon.

My father whom is still alive, would always tell me about how my eyes were dangerous to myself and the people around me. That's why I always have to keep the blindfold on. I know all the limits of these eyes with the blindfold on.

My father was clan leader. It was horrible that a demon was born into the main household. Many clan members were worried and my father has kept me stuck in a legit cell ever since.

I get 3 meals a day along with 2 snacks. I don't get much entertainment, but my father keeps me studying stuff that I'd be learning in the academy with the other 12 year olds.

I've heard and seen many people argue with my father telling him to kill me. He would tell them he has it under control and he wouldn't kill me.

My father was rude towards me, but every time he somehow stood up for me, it warmed my heart.

"Mayumi.." I looked towards the door to see my father. He was frowning while holding a bowl.
"Father." I bowed as I sat on my knees.

He took a seat in front of me and slid the bowl of food to me.

"Eat. You need to grow strong and healthy." My father said giving me consent to take the bowl.
"Thank you." I smiled lightly and took the bowl and started to eat with the chop sticks that were provided. I could feel his eyes burning into my head.

"I talked to Lord Third a few days ago. It was regarding you." My father said and I raised my head up.
"Regarding me?" I questioned confused. This was a first.
"We've come to a decision that you'll be taking a Genin test. You'll become a ninja. The Hokage believed that me just teaching you and feeding you, would never really put yourself to the test." My father said and I couldn't help but smile. My smile slowly returned to a frown.
"Wait, with other children?" I asked. I've never really had a friend. I've mainly just always had people, yet I always was alone. I was nervous to meet other kids my age.
"Yes. When you pass the test you'll be put into squads of four being led by a Jounin."

I was finally going to be let out of this house.

"Thank you father."
"Thank the Hokage, not me... He'll be arriving in a few hours. Your test will commence here. Get ready and good luck." My father said plainly. I smiled and bowed.

He's sure I'll pass the test. It made me extra confident and happy.
