Chapter 45: Toshiko Senju

Mayumi

I laid in my bed waiting for the so called escort my father said he'd send for me.

After Gaara left, I moved myself to the bed.  I made sure no one knew what had occurred.  Sakura, and Naruto came to visit me.

Sakura told me that she tried to visit Sasuke but he wasn't in the hospital.  I was worried but it seems like everything has settled.  I had a feeling Kakashi sensed had something to do with it.

"Mayumi..." I heard Sasuke's voice.  I turned to my window to see him squatting on the ledge.

Speaking of the devil...

"You scared Sakura you know.." I stated rolling my eyes with a smirk.

"What she thinks doesn't matter...  Did I worry you?"  Sasuke questioned me smirking.

Of course I'm worried.  He's my comrade...

"Pfft!  No...  I don't care."  I laughed and his smirk dropped.  I started to laugh from his reaction and I watched a small smile form on his lips. He made his way towards me and started tickling me.

"Sasuke!" I laughed to the point I felt like I was going to pee. "Sasuke I'm gonna pee!" I cried and he stopped.

"Gross." Sasuke sighed. I tried to sit up and winced in pain. "Hey that it easy!" He said helping me sit up and adjust myself. "I heard you got beat down pretty bad but you outsmarted her." Sasuke said sitting bed side.

"I guess that's what happened." I awkwardly laughed. "I didn't harm her because she's my sister. I care for her even if she doesn't care for me." I stated and Sasuke stayed silent for a bit.

"Don't take her so lightly Mayumi. Blood is thicker than water.. but I remember plenty of times when water was there and blood wasn't." Sasuke stated. I never thought of it that way. Sasuke stared at me hard. He started to look at my neck and I quickly covered it.

"Don't look at me like that! It's uncomfortable!" I complained and Sasuke gripped my hands removing them from my neck.

"Kakashi Sensei didn't tell me about your neck getting injured." Sasuke looked at me suspiciously.

"Well he forgot. I got beat up pretty bad. Other things stood out like me getting stated in the stomach." I awkwardly laughed.

"Your neck has bruises. You were chocked.  I'm pretty sure the fact that you could be chocked to death is important."  Sasuke stared at me with his famous rude glare.  "You also tried to hide it from me.  Mayumi, who really did this to you?"  Sasuke asked me.

"I told you already.  I got injured during the fight."  I stated.

Something else caught Sasuke's eye.  He got up and moved to where Gaara lifted me with his sand.  He kneeled down and looked at the bits of sand on the ground.

"Gaara came in here and did that to you, didn't he?!  He lifted you by your neck right here."  Sasuke stood up angrily.

"He didn't mean to!"

"Mayumi, you could've died!  You didn't call someone to check on your-"

"I'm fine.  Gaara was upset.  He didn't know what he was doing-"

"YOU COULD'VE DIED!"  Sasuke stared at me with his Sharingan.

He really cares about you..  Kill him.

What?!

Oh I'm Mayumi and Sasuke cares for me, so I must hold this soft spot for him.

I don't have a soft spot for him.

He'll get you killed.

"Sasuke, I'm not dead!"  I stated and I think that made him angrier.

"Thank god I'm facing Gaara in the finals.  I'll work my butt off everyday. Kakashi Sensei is training me."  Sasuke made his way back to the window.  "I'm gonna kill him!"  He left on that note. I sat in the bed fiddling with my hands. What's happening?

The battle for your love and protection!

I heard my room door open. I turned to see that lady who stood beside the Hokage during the preliminaries.

"Hey, kid. I'm here to bring you back to your compound." The woman stated. She looked frustrated and flustered.

Also confused. Look at her face, it's like... why the hell am I doing this?

"I don't know you... How can I trust you?" I questioned.

"I'm Toshiko Senju. Your father sent me here to...escort you..." The lady looked mad with every word. She had straight long brown hair with dark eyes. Her forehead was covered with a red band.

"You sound hesitant."

"I don't do this thing! I'm a part of the Legendary Yonin. Why am I here?!" She yelled up at the ceiling.

"Yonin..?"  I questioned surprised.

"Yes..  Problem?"  She questioned with sass and I raised my hands up in surrender shaking my head.

She stared at me for awhile then sighed.  "Get up.  We are leaving."  She stated and I slowly got up.  I winced in pain but I started slowly making my way towards her.  She rolled her eyes annoyed at my pace.

I can't believe I was with one of the Legendary Yonin.

We left my hospital room and we walked down the hall. I passed by a room and my eyes throbbed.

I stopped moving and held my head.

..I sense my power in that room...

"What?" Toshiko questioned as I backed up. I stood in front of the room with my eyes wide.

"REN?!" I yelled and I rushed into the room as fast as I could. He was laying there in the bed.

"Wh..What happened to him?!" I yelled at the Yonin standing bedside.

"I don't know. Ask your father that. It's my mission to get you home. You can't stay here."

"I'm not leaving Ren. What happened when I was taking the test!! I want to know!" I yelled.

"Kid, I don't know what happened!  You know what I do know?  I have to escort you to your compound." Toshiko yelled and I was scared. He was dying already, is he gonna die now?

"You can't be in here!" A nurse rushed in.

"What happened to him?!" I yelled with tears streaming down my face.

"He collapsed. He was rushed here." The nurse stated. "Now get out of here!" She kicked me out of the room.

"I'm related to him!" I screamed.

"Hey kid! You need to calm down. He'll be fine." Toshiko stated.

"How are you so sure?" I questioned staring up at her sadly.

"Trust me.. I know."
