Chapter 22: Comrade

Mayumi

"How do you feel to be out of that hospital?"  Ren asked me.

"I'm still confused on why I was in it and why you rushed me here.  My father would've killed me."  I said and he shook his head.

I'm surprised you are still living.

"He wouldn't have killed you.  He would've been mad but at least you would've been alive and not dead."  Ren said.

"What do you mean?"  I questioned him.

"Oi!  Mayumi."  I looked up to see Sasuke who was motioning I come towards him.  I turned to look at Ren who was all of a sudden no where to be found.  He probably wanted to give us alone time after all that has happened.

Are you going to tell him about those eyes?

"Hi Sasuke."  I said and we started to walk.  It was silent majority of the time but I don't eventually got the courage to speak.

"How does it feel having the Sharingan?"  I asked and he smirked.

"I guess it's good.  It's a sign I'm getting stronger."

"Yeah."

"Are you going to tell me about your eyes?"  He asked and I shrugged.

Yeah Mayumi..  Are you?

"Why should I tell you?"  I asked.

"I feel like it's best to know each other inside out for our missions."

Is that really the reason why?

"I'll tell you one thing...  When you... yeah...  A strong power came out of Naruto and he beat the masked boy into a pulp in less than five minutes."

"What?!"  Sasuke was shocked and mad.

"Yeah.  I didn't know he had it in him.  Well my eyes can make anyone feel pain and see horrify images that connect to them and their lives.  I just do it by staring them in their eyes with the golden eyes."  I said and Sasuke clutched his chest.

Look, you've brought a dark and scary memory for him back.  Maybe it was a mistake to tell him.

"Is something wrong..?"  I questioned and he shook his head.

"Naruto!"  I heard him yell.  "I think he's in trouble!"  I said and I started to run towards the direction with Sasuke.  It probably was too soon for me to be running but my comrade is in trouble.

I stood on the fence and started to run.  I saw a guy and a girl standing beside each other much older than us.  The guy was holding Konohamaru by his shirt.  I stopped and looked below.

"Mayumi!"  I heard Sakura yell.

"If you are really looking for someone to fight, why don't you fight me?"  I questioned and he laughed.

"Look at you.  You look as fragile as this little boy."  The guy said and my blue orbs turned gold surprising him.

"Hmm..  Maybe I will."

Just then a rock came and hit his hand snapping me back to reality.  He dropped Konohamaru and he ran back.

He clutched his hand and we all looked up in the tree to see Sasuke, holding rocks.

"Ah... Another guy who pisses me off." 

"Mayumi, he's not worth a fight."  Sasuke said and I know that ticked off the guy.

"Get lost.  What are you doing in our village?"  Sasuke added.

"Not worth the fight, huh?"  He pulled off the body from his back.

"Hey, your even going to use Karasu?"  The girl beside him said worriedly.

I could take him down.  Or I could make them look into my eyes and feel pain and get everyone to safety before thinking about that.

"Kankuro, stop it.." A raspy voice came from behind the tree.

"You are an embarrassment to our village."  A boy said and my eyes widened.

Why did I immediately think of Ren's words to me describing the person I should spend the rest of my life with?  I feel like I can see his pain.  I understand him.

Damn these creepy eyes of mine.

That boy's back story is similar to yours.  His past has changed him into a cold lump of sand.  Would you really be able to talk to him without getting yourself killed?
