Chapter 18: Different

Mayumi

I don't know how or why that happened. How what ever was in me took over. I think Ren knows and he's really quite about it. He doesn't want to talk about it. All he wants me to do now is relax. I think he's afraid that it'll scare me. I think having this voice inside of my head is as scary as it gets. It's everywhere.

"Mayumi!"  Ren snapped me back to reality.

"What?"  I questioned confused.  He raised his eyebrow at me and just ignored what just happened.

"So you and the Uchiha?"  He said and I glared at him.  "He admitted his feelings for you and you shut him down because you feel like there's someone else out there for you."  Ren said and my eyes widened.

"How did you know?!"  I asked shocked and he gave me a surprised look.

"You told me just now.." Ren awkwardly laughed and I blushed a bit.  I stared at him for awhile realizing his eyes were glowing gold.

"Aren't your eyes suppose to be blue?"  I questioned moving hair away from his face getting a better sight.

"I'm gonna die soon anyways.  Who cares!"

"I care!"  I yelled I whined and he flicked my forehead.

"I know.   I'm just kidding.  Being close to you is making them gold.  I don't even possess the eyes..  Well I do possess some of its power actually."  Ren said thinking.

I felt my eyes glow gold and I started to see an apple crushed by one hand.  I saw Zabuza. 

"We should go soon, Haku." Zabuza said as the apples pieces fell off his hand.  I think Haku is the young man beside Zabuza.  How am I seeing this right now?

"What, Mayumi?"  Ren asked me.

"Is it normal that I'm able to vision things when I'm not there?"  I asked and Ren raised his eyebrow.

"I've never heard about seeing visions.  What did you see?"

I stared at him and put the words together in my head.  "They're coming..  Zabuza is coming."

"Mayumi, are you sure you want to come?"  Sakura asked me and I nodded my head.  I'm not hurt, I'm fine.

That's not the first time I heard that lie.  When will they know?  That Uchiha boy is eyeing you.  He's smart.  He knows what's going on.  If you don't tell him yourself when his Sharingan awakens, it'll tell him for you.

He doesn't care about me.  He doesn't need to know.  I looked at Sasuke who turned away once I looked.

If that's what you think, keep believing that.  Reality will hit you in the face.

We were all standing on the porch of Tazuna's house, and we were ready to leave to protect him as he fixes the bridge.

"I'll stay back and wait for Naruto.  When he wakes up we'll come right to you."  Ren said and I nodded.  He ruffled my hair.

"Take care kid.  Be careful.  Stay Strong."  Ren said.  He brought his lips to my ear.  "Don't let the voice in your head take over."  Ren whispered to me and I nodded.

Too late...kukuku...

We made our way towards the bridge.  My eyes started to throb.  Something didn't feel right.

"Are you alright?"  Sasuke asked me.

"Something doesn't feel right."  I whispered to him.  Sasuke grabbed my arm to stop me as we stayed a bit back from the rest of the group.  His hold was cold making me wince a bit.

"How can you tell?"  Sasuke asked and I took a deep breath.

"It just seems too quiet.  It's been awhile since we've seen Zabuza."  I said and Sasuke stared at me seriously.

"Mayumi..."  His voice was deeper and you could hear the seriousness in it.  "When I said I liked you and cared for you, I wasn't lying.  So please tell me, what's happening with you?"  Sasuke asked and I stared at him for a bit feeling kinda sad.  He'll just find me a freak.  If people know my weaknesses, they'll use it against me.

I'm a weakness?  That's harsh.

"It confuses me on why you are the only girl that doesn't like me."  Sasuke said and I furrowed my eyebrows.  I think for once I was becoming mad.

"I'm different.  Those girls like you because you are the bad boy who is super smart.  You have a cocky attitude.  I want to find someone that I can connect to.  Someone who's been hurt and doesn't understand what love is yet would want to learn with me."  I stated causing Sasuke to widen his eyes.  He was surprised, yet his shocked expression slowly turned into an annoyed look.

"You don't know anything about me.  Don't you dare criticize how I am!"  Sasuke growled at me.

"WHAT'S THIS WHAT HAPPENED?!"  Tazuna yelled and we were running to see what happened.  My eyes widened looking at the scene.  The builders were on the ground, hurt.

"WHAT HAPPENED?!  WHAT?!" Tazuna yelled holding his friend in his arms.

"A monster..." The man coughed out.

"He's here..."  I said and Kakashi realized what I meant as the mist surrounded us.
