Chapter 14: The Mist

Sasuke

We've moved around quite a lot today.  We ended up traveling on a boat and back on land.  Mayumi has been acting fine lately but, I could tell she was fighting within herself.

"THERE!"  Naruto yelled and threw a Kunai.

We all looked at him dumbfounded.

"Heh..  Just a rat.." He said adjusting his headband.

This idiot.

"STOP TRYING TO ACT COOL!  THERE'S NOTHING THERE!"  Sakura yelled and I furrowed my eyebrows as they scorned Naruto, except Mayumi who seemed out of it.

"Mayumi!"  I shook her and she gasped.

"I'm fine I swear!" She had her hands raised up.

"You aren't a very good liar." I crossed my arms looking down at her. She was about the height of Naruto. She looked so small and delicate.

"NARUTO!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!"  We both turned to Naruto hugging a snow rabbit.

It's spring...  Snow rabbits shouldn't be that colour. Something's not right here.

"I feel that way too." Mayumi said looking up at me. She was strange too. I've accepted the fact that she can read minds and I'm not gonna push it and find out now the way her mindset has changed.

I looked back at her as she looked up at me. Damn she was cute. I felt my cheeks heat up.

I quickly turned my head and Sakura was looking at me. She looked at Mayumi then back at me. She turned away frustrated.

Things were weird. I know she likes me but, I feel some type of connection to Mayumi. I hope my emotions or Sakura's don't jeopardize our mission. Mayumi is already jeopardizing her life. I don't even know how Mayumi feels on anything truly. She acts like everything is okay when things clearly aren't.

"EVERYONE GET DOWN!"  Kakashi yelled and Mayumi froze on the spot.  I immediately jumped on her pinning her onto the ground as I laid on her.  A large sword flew over our heads and wedged into a tree.

"What's wrong with you?!"  I questioned annoyed as I really had a strong feeling that she'd be in two pieces if I hadn't pounced her.

"..." She stayed silent.  I could sense she was confused on something.  I wonder what it is.

We all slowly got up and a man appeared on the wedged sword.

"Well well, if it isn't the Hidden Mist's missing-nin, Zabuza Momochi."  Kakashi said and I raised my eyebrow in confusion.

Mayumi

"Everyone get back.  This one's on a whole other level." Kakashi said seriously and I took a step back.  I sensed a lot of chakra from this guy.

No...  Mayumi.  Take a front seat at the action.

I gritted my teeth as I walked closer.

"That little girl's got guts."  The man stared at me and my eyes widened a bit.

Don't worry.  If he comes at you, they'll all protect you.  Maybe not Sakura since you've managed to woo Sasuke. Heh.

Sasuke?  Woo?

They'll probably die protecting you.

I won't let them.

Oh yes you will. Don't you want Ren to live?

"Mayumi.. Calm down. I'll take care of this guy. Just stand back." Kakashi said about to raise his headband. The one that covered his eye. What is he gonna do?

You don't even know your sensei.

He didn't want to tell us some stuff about himself... Or anything at all.

How do you expect to be compatible with someone you don't know? Mayumi, you can see the type of eye he possesses.

"You appear to be Kakashi of the Sharingan."  The man stated in his rough voice.  My father informed me on many special Kekkaigenkai and the Sharingan is one I know very well.  It's strange Kakashi has it and he isn't an Uchiha.

I could sense the confusion within the whole group.  Especially Sasuke.

"Sorry but, the old man is mine."  The man said.

"Well if you really want Tazuna, you have to get through me.  Fight me."  Kakashi said.

"Heheheh..  When I was a member of the Hidden Mist's assassin team...I kept a handbook, it included information on you.  And this is what it said, the man who has copied over a 1000 jutsu.. Kakashi, the copy Ninja."  The man named Zabuza said and I stared at Kakashi shocked.   I believe I wasn't the only one.

And you thought he was scary during your survival training..

"Now let's end all the talking.. I have to kill that old man." The man said.

Sakura, Sasuke, Naruto, and I surrounded the old man protectively.

"But it seems I have to defeat you first, Kakashi.." The man quickly jumped and stood on the water.

"OVER THERE! AND ON TOP OF THE WATER!" Naruto yelled and everyone looked there.

"Hidden Mist Jutsu.."

That's a lot of chakra..

"HE'S GONE!"

"He'll come after me first. Zabuza Momochi... As a member of the Hidden Mist.. he was known as an expert in silent killing.. You don't even notice until you are already dead. It's not like I can use the Sharingan perfectly. You guys be careful." Kakashi said frightening everyone a bit.

"The mist is getting thicker!!!" Naruto yelled.

"8 choices..." Zabuza's voice was lurking around. I don't know where he is which is scaring me a bit.

"Liver, Lungs, Spine, Clavical Vein, Neck Vein, Brain, Kidney, Heart. Which one should I go after?" His raspy voice lingered scaring creeping everyone out.

I started to sweat nervously.

This is the real life of a Ninja, Mayumi. If you think this is scary, you should experience war.

"Where is he..?" I questioned concentrating my chakra on my eyes..

I gasped and turned to see him in between Tazuna, Sakura, and Sasuke.

"WATCH OUT!" I screamed and Kakashi quickly grabbed Zabuza. We all flew back and fell onto the ground and Kakashi stabbed Zabuza.

"Water clone?!" I questioned turning my eyes blue and getting up.

"SENSEI!!! BEHIND YOU!!!"

Kakashi and Zabuza were really going at it. Kakashi even copied Zabuza's clone jutsu.

"It's Over." Kakashi had the Kunai to Zabuza's throat. It was finally over.
