Chapter 79: Meet Again

He was just as surprised to see me.  My eyes saw all kind of emotion in his eyes.  Startled, Confusion...Hurt.

He thought you were dead and probably was learning to cope with it.  What did you expect?

I wanted to say so much, but when I looked at Gaara's face, the face of the Shukaku appeared in my head.  The fact that he killed me flooded my thoughts and my arms started to tremble. I couldn't move.

You're scared of him. Let's face it.

I'm not scared of anyone, but myself.

You looked an identical monster in the face to you. You know that this boy understands you probably more than anyone. He's the same as you. You being scared of yourself means you are scared of him, probably traumatized.

Trauma, huh..?

I think Gaara took in my trembling arms. He created a sand platform underneath me bringing me behind him as well as Lee.

He was definitely stunned by seeing you.

It looked like Lee was becoming sober.

...Sadly..

I scanned Gaara from behind nervously. His outfit change, it was different. It really suited him.

"Gaara of the Desert?" Lee questioned.

"So you're Gaara.." Bone man stated.

Yeah, I really want to know his name.

He quickly fired bones coming out of the top of his fingers towards Gaara, but Gaara's sand was faster. It protected him.

"You're impatient." Gaara turned his head to Lee. "When we past fought, you were sharper and faster than this."

Lee slowly got up. "Thanks for reminding me." He smirked a bit. "Not to hold a grudge but you really did a number on me."

"I see." Gaara spoke in his raspy tone.

He's not taking in my existence.

Pretty sure he doesn't want to lose someone who we thought was dead and brought pain to him again.

I was never lost.

You were dead!

"Anyways, why are you here?" Lee questioned.

"I owe the Leaf." Gaara replied.  Lee stood up in a fighting stance.  Gaara took in the blood coming out of his arm and immediately reacted.  "I'll handle this."

Lee was surprised.  He wanted to fight.  He wanted to show he could do it.  "No!  Please back me up instead!"  Lee demanded.  Lee tried to run but Gaara's sand pulled him back. "Oh come on!  Let go!"  Lee yelled and shortly winced in pain.

"You're in no shape to fight.  I'll handle this."  Gaara stated.

"Do not let your guard down. He uses his bones to attack! He can launch them like you saw before! He's able to control them all at will!" Lee informed Gaara.

"Also, I suggest don't attack him close range. I learned the hard way." I looked down at the hole in my dress.

"I wasn't planning to." Gaara replied.
