Chapter 20: The Life of a Shinobi

Sasuke

Sakura just screamed and instead of worrying here, my worries are leading out of there.

This is bad.

Naruto is laying down on the ground so is Mayumi, and my eyes are adjusting to this boys movements.   I don't think I'm the only one.  Mayumi is starting to notice.

"Here it comes again!"  I yelled and Mayumi forced herself up quickly.  She did her handsigns and did her gold style jutsu trying to grab the leg of the boy.

After the round, I watched as frustration grew in Mayumi.  "So close!"

It's gonna happen again.

He's coming!!

Calm down..

Concentrate...

And see through it!!!

"Mayumi, move!"  I yelled as I grabbed Naruto and moved too.

Mayumi turned to me and she looked at me surprised.

"Sasuke... Your eyes!"  She said surprised.

"You are..!!  I see you are also from an advanced bloodline."  The boy said and I started to look around with my new eyes.

"You are starting to read my movements...  I'll make sure to make this the last time.  THIS IS THE END!"  Haku made his way towards Naruto who helpless and defenceless.

Damn it!  I have to make it in time.

Mayumi stood in front of Naruto with her arms wide.  She was pretty beaten up and you could tell she was struggling to stay awoke.  She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

No!  I won't let someone I care about die!

I stood in front of her just in time.

Mayumi

He fell to the ground and I was frozen. Why did he do that? Why would he save someone like me?

My eyes were throbbing.

I dropped to my knees and kneeled beside Sasuke. I held his hand and I started to cry. I never thought I'd cry for someone. I've cried in fright for myself, but every person I've learned to welcome in my life would hate me and be scared of me. Someone like him who cared for me and knew something was up about me but still tried.

"W-Why are you crying? I'm the one who likes you remember? I should be crying because I'm losing you." Sasuke said and I shook my head.

"You have beautiful gold eyes Mayumi." Sasuke said and I smiled in sadness.

Naruto got up and made his way towards us.

"W-What happened?!"  He quickly kneeled.

"It was all for you.  All to protect you!"  I cried and Naruto looked in confusion.

"Why?!  Why me?!"  Naruto yelled as a tear left his eyes.

"I don't know...  My body moved on it's own."  Sasuke coughed out.

"That man..  My brother... I told myself I wouldn't die until I killed him..." Sasuke's breathing got slower.

"Don't die also..." Sasuke said and he stopped speaking.

My eyes widened and I could feel my power begging me to let it out.

"He landed a blow on me and without flinching...  died to protect both of you.." Haku said and my eyes immediately stared at him waiting for him to reveal his face to me.  My nice character died with Sasuke, all I wanted to do was to unleash this dark power people call a curse.

"To protect what's precious to him, knowing it was a trap, he was able to still jump in.  He is a shinobi that deserves respect." 

My eyes were ready to unleashing anything and everything.  I was ready to gift Haku his nightmares.

I'd make Haku see his worst and I wouldn't regret it one bit.

"Is this your first death of a friend?  This is the way of shinobi..." Haku moved into the mirror.

"Shut up..." Naruto said and I stood up.  I took a deep breath and I've never felt so empowered before.

"I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!  I'LL KILL YOU!!"  Dark power emitted from Naruto as it emitted from me.

I stared Haku in the face.

A painful scream left him as he dropped on the ground clutching his head in horror.

Haku was struggling to get up but was still putting up a face to fight, but these scary thoughts were distracting him from the fight.  Naruto was quick to beat up Haku. He kicked him, and his chakra deflected any type of weapon Haku sent his was.

I was surprised by the chakra Naruto gave out but, I can't let it make me forget the enemy we are facing.

Naruto got into a good stance and punched Haku directly in his face sending him out of the mirrors and breaking him mask in the process.

I turned to stare at Sasuke.  He laid there limp.  I could've been the one to die today.  No one really treasures me but Ren.  My life barely means anything.

The mirrors shattered around us and I protected his body with my gold style.

"You deserved...better than this, but you wasted your life on someone like me.."

"Mayumi!"  I heard Ren's voice.  I listened to his footsteps get louder and I stare at Sasuke's body.  He realized and stayed silent a bit.

"I'm so sorry."  Ren said placing his hand on my shoulder as the gold style jutsu I had slowly went away.

"Mayumi, there's no need to have those eyes out.  They'll only hurt you."  Ren said and I shook my head.

"He died to save me...  He wasted his life."  I looked up at Ren and his eyes widened.  I felt lifeless.  Am I really going to live and watch my comrades die one-by-one?

"Mayumi, welcome to the life of a Shinobi.." Ren said.

"SASUKE!"  I listened to Sakura scream.  Tazuna came as well.  Sakura started to cry a lot.  I stood there still feeling like I was dreaming.  I had healed, and I think it's because of these eyes but...

Why did it hurt so much?

"Uwwhha.." I looked back at Sasuke who's eyes opened.   He stared at Sakura who cried even more and grunted in pain.  He stared at me and I smiled a bit.

I wiped the tear that left my eye and started to walk away with the small smile on my face.

"Mayumi..  Your eyes..." Tazuna said but I shook my head.

"Mayumi..." Ren called out.

I slowly fell to the ground.
