Chapter 27: The Chunnin Exams - Written Test (Part 1)

"Quiet down you worthless bastards!" A large smoke cloud appeared in the front of the room.

A bunch of leaf Ninja appeared. One stood out amongst the others with a different outfit and scars on his face.

"Thanks for waiting. I am Ibiki Morino, the examiner for the Chunnin selection exam's first test." He sure looked threatening. He pointed towards me.

"Hey girl, get off the wall."

"Whatever old man.  Maybe you should stop worrying about me and worry about those Sound Ninja." My body landed on the floor flawlessly.

"I'm getting to them.  Stop being impatient Ms. Suzuki."

He knows me?!

Your father and the Hokage will make sure you are on watch.

Oh yeah...

"No fighting.  Do you understand?  Do you want to fail already Hidden Sound Ninja?"  Ibiki stated.

"I apologize.  This is our first time...  We got a bit carried away."  The Sound Ninja that had the buttons spoke and glared at me after walking away.

"Then don't get carried away again.  There will be no fighting without the permission of the examiner.  Even if permission is granted, killing your opponent will not be tolerated.  Those pigs that disobey will be failed immediately.  Do I make myself clear?"  Ibiki stated and there were nods throughout the room.

"Now we will start the first test in the Chunnin Exam.  Instead of your current seating arrangements, you will pick one of these tabs and sit in the seat assigned to you."  Ibiki said showing tabs.

The tab I received was 21.

"Hey Mayumi." Sasuke called me over towards him.

"I don't know what happened just now and how you changed character, but Good luck. I know you can do it." He had his determined smirk.

"You too." I smiled.

I felt arms around me. Sakura was hugging me.

"Don't freak out. We got this in the bag." Sakura gave me a thumbs up and I nodded.

I walked over to Naruto and raised my fist. He bumped it.

"Good luck." I smiled and he returned the smile.

My father made me practice my skills physically and mentally.  I'm pretty good down on paper.

I looked for my seat 21 to find Gaara sitting in the 22 seat.

I sat down nervously as I haven't been so close to him before.

Or even had a real conversation with him, but who cares right. You are dead once the hand-to-hand combat begins.

I tried to get glances of him.

I've realized he has a pretty small figure, pretty pale skin.

"Mayumi was it..? What's with those Golden Eyes of yours... What do they do?" Gaara spoke to me in his low raspy voice.

Are you really just gonna tell him? He's your enemy. Turn to your right and look up front. That other female on the team has Gold eyes and she's angry.

"To be completely honest with you, it's none of your business. I'm against you in this, why the hell would I tell you?"

What the hell?

These are my eyes and I won't let a pretty boy with eyeliner that has no emotion in his face and his look screams 'I'm innocent, but I'll kill you in your sleep'...

I wasn't gonna tell him. I was gonna say I don't know cause I really don't know.

Honesty gets you killed.

"It's like once those eyes turn Gold, you aren't yourself..."

"You aren't seeing right, I don't have gold eyes."

Says that when the whole room already saw.

"You are into Sasuke Uchiha?"

Gaara completely disregarded my answer. "No... Its just--" I thought about my complicated relationship with Sasuke and shook my head.

"Nevermind."

Gaara went silent after that and Ibiki started to speak about the test rules. They sounded weird and dumb but I wouldn't let damage my chances.

First impression towards Gaara was that I wasn't someone who should be messed with.

Second impression, weirdo.

Third impression, it seems like I'm in a messed up relationship with Sasuke Uchiha, the one I can tell he wants to fight.

"Third rule is that during the exam, anyone caught by the testing officers doing sneaky activities, namely cheating will have two points subtracted for every offence." Ibiki spoke over my thoughts and I nodded.

"Some people will lose all their points and will be asked to leave."  Ibiki said.

"We'll have our eyes on you."  I turned to my left to see one testing officer smirking evilly.

"Realize that the pathetic ones caught cheating will be destroying themselves.  As Shinobi trying to achieve the level of Chunnin, be proud Ninjas."

Naruto wasn't the brightest in our group, and as I've heard he was the worst in the academy.  He flunked everything and I don't think written tests are his thing, but if the rest of us manage to get a perfect mark, which we probably will, we have a chance.

"Oh and the final rule, those that lose all their initial points during the test and those that don't answer any questions correctly will bone failed along with their three teammates."  Ibiki stated and my eyes widened shocked.

Okay, Naruto can't be that dumb, he'll answer something.
