Ash's PoV

He knew that was coming. He really didn't want to answer her, but he knew that she wouldn't take no for an answer. Plus, he did want to tell her, but he all he could think of doing was just to turn his head again. He knew Serena would wonder why he turned his head again, but he didn't want her to see him crying. "Ash?" Ok, Ash. You know the right trying to do. Just tell her. "It happened a few years after my father died. My mom got re-married, and at first, he seemed nice, but afterwards, he would hurt me whenever he got a chance. Like if my mom wasn't home, or if we were practicing Pokemon battles, he would have his Pokemon attack me purposely, and when my mom came outside, he would say that we were practicing and he accidentally shot a misfire and it hit me." He paused and looked at Serena. He could see that she felt sorry for him, and he didn't want her to, but he kept going, about how his step father would always punch him, tackle him, and yell at him for basically anything. He spent most of his time in his room, away from the monster outside the safety of his room. "One year, on my sixth birthday, my mom went out to get a cake for me, and she said she'd be back in a few hours. When she left, my dad told me to sit on the couch and not bother him, so I did. I sat there for an hour, and then, he was yelling into his phone about his job not giving him enough pay, even though he did work hard, and he hung up, and he just went wild.
