I can't believe I'm actually going to tell Serena how I really feel. "I...I-" I suddenly choke on my words as everything was shifting. Was I about to pass out again?! No... this was different. It felt like the world was changing; the colors were turning dark, but I could still see clearly. Everything around me turned dark; evil. That's how I could describe it without sounding completely crazy. I heard the sounds around me, but it felt like something was altering what they really were. "Ash!" I heard Serena call out, but it wasn't the sweet, innocent, angelic voice I remember. It was darker, a little raspy, and definitely meaner. "I can't believe you aren't telling them! Stop being such a wimp!" "What are you-" "Just tell us the secret, Ash!" I heard Bonnie say. Her voice had the same feel as Serena's. "Or what? You afraid that big man will come back and try to hurt you?" Clemont said. Again with the meaner tone. I covered my ears and closed my eyes. "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" "Ash!" Someone grabbed my wrists and pulled them off my ears. My eyes shot open to see who it was, and it was Serena. She had a worried look on her face. I couldn't resist myself from pulling my arms back and pulling her into a hug. "Ash, what's the matter?" She whispered in my ear as she returned the hug. "Never. Leave me. Okay?" I whisper. "Ash, why would I ever do that?" I hesitated, and said, "Just never do anything crazy for me, all right?" "I won't. Well, not without your permission." I let out a small laugh. We pulled out of the hug and just held each other's arms, and Serena said, "so what were you going to tell me?" Shoot. I completely forgot about that. "Oh... never mind. I'll tell you some other time." She pouted, but I just gave her a crooked smile, and she couldn't help but smile too. "Oh, come on! I thought you were gonna tell Serena you Lo-mph Phm mph hmm." Clemont had covered Bonnie's mouth before she could finish, and I gave him a, 'you're a life saver' look. I think he was more embarrassed than I was. His face was brighter than a tomato. He hurried Bonnie away and me and Serena burst into laughter. After that, we had a relatively normal day; besides Onikage constantly bugging me about random things. There was one thing that caught my attention; the amount of days I had left to tell Bonnie and Clemont. It was 8 days before I lost my memory, but now, it was 5. Had I really lost my memory for five days?!
Onikage, is there something you're not telling me?
I already told you, Ash. For every day you lose your memory, and forget the deal, three days are taken off of the countdown.
WHAT?! When did you tell me that?!
Before you got your memories ba- oh. He realized. Yeah, that one is on me. I told you when you didn't recover you memory.
Yeah, and you call yourself a genius.
Hey! I messed up once, okay?
You also messed up when you made me insanely sick.
Okay fine, twice. I gotta go. Serena's staring. Talk to you later! And like that, he was gone. All of the time I had amnesia was still a little holey, up until the point where I was walking with the gang and Serena snapped me out of it. We set up camp in a clearing in the woods. It was really nice, actually; a lot of greenery, flowers, and surrounded by tall evergreen trees. We decided since it was so nice outside that night, we'd sleep under the stars, since it had been so long since the last time we'd done it. I laid on the left end, Serena to my right, next to Bonnie, and finally Clemont on the far right end. We stargazed for a bit, till Clemont and Bonnie fell asleep. Serena and I still stargazed, but we were careful not to wake them up. "Do you ever wonder what's out there?" I ask. "What do you mean?" She asked curiously. I sat up, "do you ever wonder what's beyond what we know? What's out in space? Past the stars?" I was fascinated by the stars, how free they were. "I guess I've never really thought about it." Serena sat up too. "I guess it would be cool to go up there and just be surrounded by an endless void of the galaxy." "Are you being sarcastic?" I ask. "Partially. It would be scary, but still really cool." I look at her. The moonlight bounced off her skin as if it were glowing. She looked illuminated, as if the stars were shining down on her. She looked at me and smiled that adorable smile I know her for. I smile back. She started frowning, and I ask, "what's up?" "Huh? Oh, nothing." She looks at her feet for a minute. "Serena, when it comes to your emotions, you're an open book." She chuckled. "Is it that obvious something's bugging me?" "Pretty much." We both let out a soft laughter. "I guess I'm just thinking that it's my fault you got amnesia." I was confused, and she could tell. "You're and open book, too." She smirks. I start blushing a little. "How is it your fault? Lysandre shot me over the edge." "Yeah, but if you hadn't protected me, and I'd just protected myself, you could've dodged the Master Shadow Ball, and you wouldn't have gone over..." her voice became tender. I felt bad, because I felt like her feeling guilty was my fault. She wanted to protect herself, but I shoved her out of the way. "It's not your fault, Serena. If anything, it's mine..." I whisper. "How is it your fault, Ash? You were trying to protect me." "And that's just it. You wanted to protect yourself, but I underestimated you and protected you. I... I thought that he would hurt you..." she had a surprised look on her face, I could see it out of the corner of my eye as I stared up at she stars above us. "I know this might sound kinda cheesy, like from a book or something, but when I saw the shadow ball heading for you, all I thought in my head was, 'not her.' If anything were to happen to you... if anything were to happen..." I felt the tears dwelling in my eyes as I remembered Silvers words as he was pinning me down, how he would hurt, possibly kill, me and Serena if I told anyone else about him. Serena's arm found its way around my shoulder, as she leaned her head on my shoulder. "Ash... you don't know how much that means to me..." she whispers. I look at her and tears of joy streamed down her cheeks as she smiled. I couldn't help myself from giving a small side grin. I'd finally found where I'm supposed to be; at Serena's side.
