Ash heard the door close and he felt his face turn bright red as he smiled. Serena kissed his forehead. She liked him. And he was pretty sure he liked her back.

She was staring at you number one, number two she stayed behind for a little bit after the others left, and three she said 'I wish you would tell me what's wrong, Ash.' I think that's plenty.

Just act like you're sick or something. If she finds out that I'm here, the deal would be off, and the mark would automatically go black.

You can't try. You need to. And just like that, Dark Ash left Ash's thoughts. Ash opened his eyes and everyone re-entered the room. "Hey guys." "Hey Ash. How you feeling?" Clemont asked. "Better than before, thanks." Ash caught a glimpse of Serena smiling at him. He turned his head towards the window and blushed a little. "Ash, we're sorry about earlier." Bonnie asked. Ash turned his head back to them. "We didn't know how much you hated your birthday. But now, you have friends like us to keep you company." Ash was confused, and looked at Serena. She winked t him, indicating that she'd covered for him. "It's fine. You guys didn't know." Ash said. Bonnie ran up and hugged Ash, with Clemont smiling behind her. Ash smiled back at him, and looked over to Serena and mouthed 'thank you.' She mouthed back 'No problem.' Bonnie let go of the hug, and the four of them talked for hours, laughing, goofing off, having a good time, when the announcements said that visiting hours would be ending shortly. Bonnie and Clemont left, and Serena stayed for a little while longer. "What did you tell them?" Ash asked curious on what she told them to cover for him. " only that you never had any good friends and you were always made fun of on your birthday, so you don't celebrate it anymore." "Good enough for me. Thanks." "No problem. Good night." She started for the door. I'm telling her. "Serena, wait." She stopped and turned. "Yeah Ash?"
Remember if you tell her, the deal is off.
That was right. If he told her, he'd automatically transform into Dark Ash.
"N-never mind." "oh, ok." Serena said. Then she left Ash alone in his thoughts.
