A/N: completely random song. Enjoy the story!
"Kyle?" " Long time no see, little bro." I ran up to him and gave him the worlds biggest hug ever. "What are you doing here? I thought you were an angel!" "Well, let's just say they found out I don't got no clean slate." He winked at me. He always talked like that, all gangster and with no good grammar. It was so cool. Mom and dad always forced me to be the good kid while Kyle got to do the fun stuff. But, hey, they're parents. Can you blame them? And plus, he is older than me by two years. But on my birthday, I could tell anyone I'm a year younger than him for 7 months! It's awesome! Well, was awesome. "You know I can read your thoughts, right?" "Huh? Oh yeah." "Bro, it's fine!" He leaned in closer and said in a hushed voice, "don't tell anyone from the Dead that I told you this, but there's a way for us to go back. Back to normal!" I pulled back. No way was he telling the truth. The Demonic Enhancement Department, or D.E.D. as they call themselves or as we like to call them the Dead, had told every new demon that there was no way to become human again after the Demon King Satan had claimed our souls. And they'd never lie about something like that... right? I mean, there were good reasons to doubt them. For one, we're demons. Tricking people's what we do. And also, they all had straight faces... too straight, like they were forcing it. So maybe... "are you telling the truth?" Kyle let out a sigh, placed a hand on his chest, and said, "on my honor, I will say, that I have not lied today." "Kay, I believe you." I replied. That was our secret chant that we made up when we were younger to swear to each other that we were telling each other the truth. "So there really is a way out of this afterlife?" "No, cuz that's definitely not the tenth time you's asked me that in the past five." He playfully nudged my arm. I couldn't help but crack a grin around him. He just had that kind of charm that could literally make anyone grin, even some of the sirens back from Tartarus, and they never smile for any guy. Mostly they just sock 'em in the gut. Words of experience; never try to be nice to a siren. Me and Kyle just messed around like we used to for what seemed like forever, until a whistle like sound came. "Well, that's my ride. Good seeing you again, bro." He got up and started for the train, but I grabbed his wrist. "Can't you stay?" He gave me that devious grin and said, "wish I could, Kage, but like you, I gotta keep doin' my job." "And that is?" "Oh, you know, same as the usual; workin' as a waiter for the Demon's Foodhouse and getting looks from the chics." He winked. He hopped on the train, and on the way on, he turned to me and gave me the same salute thing Ash had given me earlier. I did the same gesture back as I watched my brother leave. I could just hear him say, "See ya 'round, Squirt!" "KYLE!!" That was a nickname he gave me when I accidentally squirted our dad with a hose when we were hosing down our old car. He'd laughed so hard when it happened, and next thing you knew, we had a full out water fight. One of the best days of my life. I fell back and stared into the dark sky. I said to myself, "How'd I wind up with Kyle, the king of awesome, as my brother?" I laughed, as I waited for Ash to go back to sleep.
