I was staring at Ash in shock. His father... died? That must've been the reason why he looked so happy when Vinny walked through the door. "A-ash, if you don't want to talk about it, t-that's-" "no. I, I need to tell someone, better you t-than anyone else." I heard a soft pinging coming from the ground. I also started to notice that Ash's shoulders were moving a little and there was a small puddle forming under where his head hung. He wasn't giving me direct eye contact, so I couldn't tell what was wrong. "Eight years ago, some point in October, me, my mom, and my dad were having a good time around the piano like we used to, b- but then, they came." They? "Who's-" "Team Flare along with team Rocket. Two groups who hate me to the core for no reason. They came into our house one night and..." his voice faded off as I heard him sobbing softly. I felt terrible. The aura coming from his body was a midnight blue. That meant Ash was miserable. I walked forward and let him cry into my arms. I felt horrible for him. I noticed that Ash's aura went from midnight to a dark blue. He was calming down, but something was off. There was a pale pink aura too. That's not right. A person could feel two things, but Ash was only sad. So where was that other aura coming from? I lifter my right hand and figured it out. It was coming from me. Why? Demons don't get auras. Ash pulled out of the hug and explained the rest of the story to me. Basically, the two teams broke into his house and Ash's mother and him ran when his father told them to, saying he'd be right behind them, but he wasn't. He'd been buried in rubble from the two teams lighting the house on fire. Ash described it as the worst day of his life, even worse than the day Silver shaded his back. "... I can't forget the look on my mom's face when we found out. It was horrible. I'd never seen my mom cry before, so we just hugged each other and cried. Then, the smoke formed the words, 'Never forget this, Ash. We'll be watching you...' and then it vanished." "Ash, I'm so sorry." "It's fine. You couldn't have known about it." Ash started to disappear, which meant he was waking up. "See you later." "Same place as always." Ash gave me a two finger salut sort of thing. I waved as he vanished. "Well, looks like I rubbed off on you after all." I flung my head around. "Kyle?" "Long time no see, little bro."
