(Serena's PoV)
"Kyle, what do you mean, 'if you don't want Ash to die'?" Clemont asked.
"Exactly what I said. If we don't get'em to the Center pronto, he might die." Kyle said, pointing to Ash. I looked down at Ash, who's head was resting on my shoulder blade. His forehead was burning to the touch, and his face was beaded with sweat. He was covered head to toe in bruises and cuts. His breathing was unsteady and his face looked like he was in pain.
"Can you tell us what's wrong with him first?" I asked. Kyle looked to Onikage and shrugged. Onikage sighed and said, "We don't know, to be honest."
"How can you tell us Ash could possibly die and not know what the heck's wrong with him?!" Bonnie asked.
"Bonnie!" Clemont said. He then bowed apologetically, saying, "My sincerest apologies." Onikage made an uncomfortable face.
"N-no, no. It's fine, Clemont. Bonnie was just frustrated, that's all. If I were in her shoes, I would be, too." Everyone but Kyle looked at Onikage with a surprised look.
"How do you know our names?" I ask. Onikage faced me again.
"I know all of your names, Serena. And what Pokémon you all have. Ash talks a lot about you all, especially you, Serena." I blush at the fact that Ash was talking about me. All of the sudden, Ash's body went completely limp, and he started shaking. He was making a sound that sounded like he was having a hard time breathing.
"We need to get him to the Pokémon Center, now." Onikage said, turning to Kyle. "You think you can carry him?" Kyle cracked his knuckles.
"No sweat." He picked Ash up in his arms without a problem. He was stronger than I realized. I guess I didn't notice the arm muscles as much as the 6-pack showing through his black tee.
"Serena, can you look up where the nearest Pokémon Center is?" I look at him blankly, then he pointed to my tablet.
"Oh! Right." I grab my tablet quickly and search the nearest Pokémon center.
"Got it! It's about ten minutes from here." Those of us who weren't already standing got up.
"Let's go." Kyle said, as we took off.

(Onikage's PoV)
We reach the Pokémon Center in 15 minutes, stopping twice so Clemont could catch his breath. Man, that kid needed to run more. Anyways, we run into the Pokémon Center and people stare at us. Did we look that bad? Yes, yes we did. Kyle's left wrist was covered in a bandage due to him bending his wrist the wrong way in a rumble down at the Demon Diner, the diner he used to work at, and Serena, Pikachu and I were dirty. Bonnie and Clemont were fine, although Clemont was sweating a little from the run here, and Bonnie was telling him off for it. We reach the main desk and Nurse Joy asks worriedly,
"Oh my! What happened?" Kyle was the first to speak.
"He got some sorta fever while we were down at the forest, and he ain't breathin' right. We's don't all know what's wrong with 'em." Nurse Joy looked surprised by my brother's accent, so I said,
"What my brother's trying to say is that our friend has a high fever and he's having trouble breathing, and we don't know what's wrong. Can you help us?" Nurse Joy nodded.
"Of course. Wigglytuff, get me a room in the ER and a bed." Nurse Joy called out behind her. A few seconds later, Wigglytuff arrived with a bed. Kyle placed Ash down in the bed and Wigglytuff wheeled him off into the back room. I look hesitantly at Nurse Joy.
"Will Ash be okay?" I ask. She looks at me with a serious gaze.
"I don't know, but I'll try my best." She ran back to Ash and we all wait.

"UGH!" Kyle grunted loudly.
"Now what?" I ask, annoyed. Kyle jumped out of his seat and flung out his arms.
"We's been sitting here for hours, and ain't no sign of that nurse. What's takin' so long!?" It's true; we'd been sitting in here since we got here, which was a little bit after 8, and it was now 4:16. What was taking so long? Could Ash be... Serena must've seen the worried look on my face from across the room, because her eyes suddenly went sad. She must've been more worried than my and Kyle were, and we both thought of Ash as our other brother. But she loved him. Even if she doesn't fully understand it yet, she does. I can tell for two reasons; one, I can see the look in her eyes and I know the way she blushes whenever Ash says something nice about her, and two, I can still see the aura of people's emotions. Right now, she has a magenta aura, which means love. But she also has a tint of blue. It's not so much of a midnight blue like my new eyes - which, by the way, love having my old eyes back. Red eyes are so evil - but it's not the same blue as her eyes. Kinda like a mix of the two. Nurse Joy finally came back. She had a worried expression on her face. Me, Serena, and Kyle all shoot up out of our seats, but I was the first one to get to Nurse Joy.
"How is he?" I ask impatiently. She was about to say something, but suddenly one of the monitors beeped like crazy. She ran over to the screen and scrolled down until she gasped.
"What's wrong?" Serena asked next to me. Nurse Joy looked up.
"Ash is having a panic attack." I had no clue what that was, but whatever it was, it sounded bad. We ran over to Ash's room. When we got there, Serena was aghast. Well, I couldn't blame her. Ash's head, wrists, and other parts of his body were wrapped in bandages. He was deathly white, and his face was dotted with sweat. The machine next to him was beeping like crazy. His body was shaking and he was making a choking sound. Nurse Joy tried to hold him down as the rest of us stared in horror.
"Wigglytuff, go get the anesthetic!" Wigglytuff ran across the room and grabbed a gas mask and a small tank. It plugged a hose into the nosel and handed the mask to Joy. She placed it on Ash's face and nodded towards the tank. Wigglytuff twisted the valve. Ash's body went limp and the machine calmed down. Nurse Joy felt near his neck, just to make sure. She sighed in relief as she turned to us.
"He's going to be just fine. I just need to figure out how to get his fever down." She looks down at Ash.
"It's a miracle he's still alive. No one with this high of a fever has made it past an hour." I'm guessing she didn't want us to hear that, because she'd lowered her tone, but not enough, so we could still hear her. Serena looked very worried and scared. Nurse Joy left along with Wigglytuff, telling Kyle that if anything happens while she was gone, to come get her immediately. Serena walked up to Ash's bed and sat down on her knees beside it. Kyle stood in the doorway so he could get a head start if anything happened. I stood behind Serena and put my hand on her shoulder. She was surprisingly comfortable with it, even though I was partially the cause of Ash being so sick.
"Ash. Please wake up." Bonnie said behind Clemont's leg. He pulled his little sister into a hug. The two of them left after a few minutes because they went to get everyone lunch - well, more like an early dinner now.
"Dang it, Ash... open your eyes already. We're all worried about you." I looked at Kyle. He barely spoke proper English. He only would if it was really serious or sad. Serena laid her chin on the side of Ash's bed and put her arms in front of her face.
"Ash... please... don't leave us." She whispered. Ash's monitor started slowing.
*beep beep*
*beep beep*
*beep beep*
It was getting too slow...
*beep beep*
*beep beep*
No...
*beep*
*beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*
Serena let out a gasp. Kyle bolted out the door to get Nurse Joy. Serena's arms were trembling.
"N-no.... A-Ash..." she pounded her fists against his chest.
"N-no... ash, y-you better o-open th-those eyes of y-yours r-right n-now! Do you he-hear me?! Ash, th-this isn't f-funny. Wake up!" She sobbed into his chest.
"ASH! NOO!" She yelled out. I lowered my gaze so my hat would cover my eyes. I didn't want her to see me crying, too, but it was more difficult than I remember to hide it. Serena's sobs echoed through the room until the monitor sparked out. The screen went black and some sparks flew from it. Nurse Joy and Kyle came back, but Bonnie and Clemont didn't. Pikachu was crying and Kyle had a single tear running down his cheek. I'd never seen him cry before, not even when he fractured his ankle after a rumble. I covered my mouth with my hand to prevent the sob from escaping my mouth. Kyle wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into a hug. I don't believe it. None of us could believe it. Ash was dead.

Nurse Joy took the monitor out of the room and said that she'd check it to see what went wrong with it. Kyle had went to go break the news to Bonnie and Clemont. Serena was still laying on top of Ash's body, crying her heart out. I placed my hand on her back and rubbed it. I figured she'd be yelling at me, saying it was my fault, but she wasn't. I noticed Ash's hat had fallen onto his neck. I went to take it off when I felt something. But... that wasn't possible. But nurse Joy did say something was wrong with his monitor... so maybe... Serena looked at me and I looked at her with a slight smile on my face. I went to tell her what I just felt, but before I did, Ash's head moved slightly and his hand went onto her head. She flung her head up, and I turned mine to see that Ash was smiling weakly at her, his eyes barely open. I'd felt his pulse a few seconds ago. He wasn't dead.
"Hi Serena..." he said softly.

A/N: oh come on, guys. You didn't actually think I'd kill Ash, did you? No way! Anyway, I've been thinking lately, and since so many of you guys are impatient for the next chapters, I'm just going to start publishing after I finish a chapter. So yeah. I'm never going to kill Ash. NEVER. So I'll see you guys next chapter.
