I felt something wet on my forehead. There was also a blurry figure sitting next to me. My eyes were barely open, so I had to tilt my head a little to see who it was. It was Serena. I can't hear anything because my ears were ringing extremely loudly and insanely high pitched, but Serena pointed to a bowl near me and Panchum and Braixen nodded and took the bowl outside. Sylveon and Pikachu were coming back inside the cave with some berries. Serena took the wet thing off my head and her eyes went as big as saucers. The wet thing was a cloth. That was probably why there was a bowl; it was probably full of water. I was confused why her eyes went so big, but I could barely remember that I'd banged my head that morning. My hat's rim was covering it this morning, but I didn't have my hat on now. She most likely saw it. Everything was starting to spin, but it came back into focus a few seconds later. The ringing started to leave my ears, but not entirely, so I still couldn't hear clearly, only a little better than before. Sadly, my headache had gotten worse. Serena was looking at me, and I could just barely hear her say, "Ash, please wake up. There are people here who care about you. I wish you'd stop over working yourself." I started to feel a little guilty. I did constantly overwork myself, and i always wound up getting hurt because of it. I know that it wasn't healthy, but it's  just my nature. It's who I am. Who I am...
How you holding up, Ash?
Do I have to answer? It hurts to think.
I'll just take that as a not well. Well, I got some good news and some bad news. Which do you wanna hear first?
Bad.
Well, you've got a high fever and when you fell, you bruised your shoulder.
Perfect. Good news?
Serena's off your tail, and she's been taking care of you this whole time. She cares about you a lot. I blushed at that, but my face was so hot then that I couldn't get a smile on.
Well, that's my Que. bye!
Serena felt my face. She must've thought my fever was getting worse. I made a small noise to make it seem like I was just waking up. I tried to open my eyes wider, which was surprisingly difficult, but I managed to get them open enough to be able to see more clearly. I saw Serena's face, which had a worried expression on it. "H-hey, Serena." I said quietly. My throat was killing me. "Hi, Ash." I started getting up, but winced as pain erupted in my shoulder. Right. Onikage said I banged my shoulder when I fell. I laid back down and Serena said, "Careful, Ash. You're not even close to being well enough to get up." I didn't want to wait around. I felt like I should be training or something, not sitting around doing nothing. "But-" "no if's, ands, or buts. You need to get better, and you can't do that if you're battling 24/7." I got a devious grin on my face. "And what if I refuse?" "Then I'll force you down." Sylveon's ribbons then started to move towards me. "Okay! Okay!" I raise my hands in defeat. "I give. I'll stay in bed. I'll find something else to do." I grabbed my bag and pulled out a pencil and my sketchbook and started working on the picture I was working on yesterday. Serena kept trying to look over the book, but I covered it every time. After a while, she got up and said she was going to go check on Bonnie and Clemont, who had went out in town to get some more medical supplies. She then left, along with Pikachu and her Pokemon. That was a mistake. Pikachu should've known to stay with me. As soon as I couldn't hear her footsteps, I got up and stumbled over to a small puddle from last nights storm. Onikage appeared as usual. But then he played the big brother card on me.
Why are you out of bed? You know you should be resting.
I know but I need to train for the next leauge. A/N: this all takes place after the Kalos leauge.
Well, even so, you can't overwork yourself again. Plus, your fever's just going down now. If you do anything stupid-
Don't worry, Onikage. I'm going to stay near the cave, and when I hear Serena's footsteps again, I'll just go back into the cave and act like I never left.
Tricky and sneaky, then lie to your girlfriend? I've finally started to rub off on you, kid!
SHE IS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND! I yelled at him, but then stumbled because my head started to hurt even more.
Easy, kid. Don't want you to pass out again.
D-don't worry. I-I'm fine. I wasn't. Everything in my whole body was shaking. The cave felt like it was closing in on me.
Ash, are you sure you're alright?
N-no. I-I-I-m n-not. Everything hurts. My head and my throat are killing me, my vision starts to fog up, and my legs are trembling. Onikage was saying something, but I couldn't hear him. My ears were ringing, and I couldn't think clearly. I make my way back to my sleeping back, but my legs gave out under me. I collapsed and I was just staring at the ceiling for a minute. Then, out of the blue, my left arm erupted in pain. I couldn't scream because my voice was pretty much gone, and I held my arm. The mark that I saw in my dream 4 days ago reappeared on my arm. My ears were ringing like crazy. The mark was a bright red, but then half of it turned a more normal shade of red. The first stage. It had been four days since I'd met Onikage and got the mark. And the mark reappeared every four days. That meant I have 9 days to tell Clemont and Bonnie about Silver, or Onikage would take over my soul.
