A/N: 40k?! What the heck?! How is this story blowing up so fast?! I'm sorry if I haven't been posting chapters often lately. Just closing up school in two weeks and things are hectic at my school. So I just wanted to say Thank you guys so much for this, and enjoy the chapter!
Ash's PoV
After a long while of everyone asking if I was alright, I finally got back up.
"Don't scare us like that again, Ash, okay?" Serena asked. I turned to her and smiled.
"Of course. I wouldn't dream of it." Then the doctor walked in and told me I was okay to leave. As we walked out of the medical wing of the Pokémon Center, Darkrai's voice returned to my thoughts.
Have fun while you can. You have 48 hours.
Shut up. I said annoyed. We reached our rooms and Serena got an alert on her tablet. She looked down at it and her face lit up.
"No way! This is awesome!" She squealed, hugging her tablet. I gave her a confused, yet amused, look.
"What happened?" I asked with laughter in my voice. She looked at me, stars in her eyes as she showed me her tablet screen.
"There's a performer's dinner tonight, and it's here! And even better is that Aria is going to be there, too!" She was clearly very excited.
"Well, let's tell the others!" I say. Serena runs out the door to tell everyone the second I say that. I laugh under my breath for a second until Darkrai's voice came back.
A Performer's Dinner, huh? Perfect opportunity for you to end a certain someone.
"Okay, now hold on one second. I never agreed to killing anyone! And second, forty-eight hours? That's NOT slowly!" I yelled at Darkrai. Bad choice on my half. Darkrai sent a rush of pain down my arm where my scars were almost gone. I had completely forgotten about those, but the pain was so bad, some of them reopened. I cried out quietly in pain.
Do not defy me. For that, instead of your current forty-seven hours, it is now twenty three. This time tomorrow, you will be under my total control. What?! That's not fair!
"No way! We had a deal!"
Shall I make it eleven? I stopped before he could cut down my time any more.
That's what I thought. Now then, I want you to hurt your friend Onikage. He has something of mine, and I need it back.
"What is it?"
A sword. He stole it when he was a demon, and now it is the sword of light. He calls it Dark-blade, and it rightfully belongs to me. Bring it to me within four hours, or you'll unwillingly break a promise to someone special to you.
And like that, his voice was gone. I shook the feeling and went to find Onikage. I wasn't going to ask where it was, but I was just going to ask what Dark-blade was to figure out why Darkrai would have been it's original possessor.

I found Onikage in the lobby with Kyle and Alain. I walked up to them, and as I did, I glanced at the clock. I was looking for him for two and a half hours. I only had an hour and a half until some promise would be broken. As I got closer, I overheard their conversation.
"...worried about him. He's not acting like himself at all." Kyle said. I stopped in my tracks. Did they figure it out already?
"I know what you mean. His aura isn't it's usual red color. It's darker now, like something else is there..." the three glanced at each other and I cut in.
"Onikage?" I asked. They all jumped, then sighed when they saw it was me.
"Ash, don't scare us like that." Alain said. I rubbed the back of my neck apologetically, and then directed my attention towards Onikage again.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I need to ask Onikage about some thing. Is that okay?" The three looked at each other and shrugged. I brought Onikage over to a corner and started.
"This is kind of random, but I remembered this a few minutes ago," I said, although they weren't really my words. Darkrai was telling me what to say so it didn't sound too suspicious.
"I remembered something from when we were battling. When I was... Yān." Onikage's eyes slightly widened.
"Okay? What about it?" He asked.
"I was wondering - you had a sword I've never seen before, the one that you used to unlock your powers or something - what exactly is it?" Onikage's eyes widened.
"Uh, well-uh- it's n-nothing." He had clear hesitation in his voice, but I pretended I didn't notice.
"Oh, okay. Thanks anyways. I was just wondering if you-" I glanced up at the clock. It's been four hours. I ran out of time.
Time's up, pretty boy. Darkrai said in my head. I entered a coughing fit and clutched my side. Onikage placed a hand on my back to see if I was okay.
"Ash, what's wrong?" He asked, concern in his voice. When I could finally breathe again, I said,
"I-I'm fine. I'm just gonna go lay down." With that, I dashed off, leaving Onikage speechless.

I entered my and Serena's room slammed the door behind me, and leaned against it as I slid down and hugged my knees. The tears quickly came with it. Why? Why was I crying?
I'm making this seem realistic.
"What are you talking about?! What are you doing to me?!" I yelled.
Breaking one of your promises...
...to Serena. He said. The only promise I've made to Serena is that I wouldn't-

Oh no.

Serena's PoV(short)
I knocked on the door. Everyone was waiting for Ash so we could start dinner.
"Ash? You okay in there?" I didn't get a response.
"Ash?" Still nothing. I was about to place my hand on the doorknob, but suddenly, I heard a loud thud from the other side of the door and soft sobs. I struggled to open the door, but I couldn't. It was locked. I reached in my pocket, grabbed a hairpin, and pressed it into the lock. I heard a click and thrust open the door. It was still a little stuck, so I pushed against the door and stumbled in. Still not looking up yet, I said,
"Ash, what's taking you so-" I looked and was so glad I had, but so scared at the same time. In front of me, Ash had stopped shakily getting up, tears flowing down his face, a rope in his hands.
