Recap from part 9:
'Please, let this be over soon! I haven't have a proper breakfast yet!" I thought furiously.
I'm packed off to a boarding school in the middle of nowhere...oh and I don't think they're humans~10~
Feeling annoyed with my hunger, I continued walking, but with a slower pace. Soon, the fragrance of delicious food filled my nostrils, my stomach growled in hunger and I increased my speed-just to smell the food. I could not wait to get my hands on the food-my hunger level zoomed up to full blast. Not long later, I'm jogging forward towards the source of the fragrance, occasionally running into walls. I soon found out that there's only one direction I'm heading, and one direction back.
Suddenly, the whole corridor became bright, enabling me to see and move about more efficiently, but at the same time hurting my eyes because they're accustomed to the darkness for quite a while and on top of that, the whole corridor is white. The walls, the floors, the ceiling, all of them. In minutes, the single corridor divided into five different routes. The closer I got to them, the more I smelt the trail of fragrance coming from the tunnel-like route on the far right. Without second thoughts, I immediately walked towards it, my hunger now digging a hole inside me.
There was it. Long tables full of delicious looking food. Ice cream, desserts, fruits, meat, you name it. I started forward, but when I finally reached the tables, I was assaulted by pebbles which hit me like little grenades. That familiar squeaking...definitely I've heard them in the zoo before...Monkeys...I turned.
One small group of them were hurling stuff like pebbles and sand at me though I do not know where did the sand came from. It reminded me 'sand attack' from pokemon...To avoid having a lot of sand getting into my eyes, I squinted at them and ran for cover at the table nearest to me. For a moment, I had a little while to think. My stomach growled involuntarily, reminding me of my hunger. But I can't stop now. To eat peacefully I have to settle the monkeys first. What food do monkeys like?
Fruits...bananas...Good enough for them. I plucked a few bananas from a bunch at the table and threw it at them after aiming carefully. True enough, they picked it up and ate them. The sad thing is, they threw the banana skin back at me. I stared at them in anger, furious that my plan had backfired on myself. "I'll teach then a lesson," I thought. It'll do them some good if they have something cold down their backs for a while for throwing that stinky banana skin at me.
Ice cream...oh yeah...sounds nice too...
I grabbed the tablespoon from the side of the tub of ice cream and used it to dig up a suitable amount of ice cream, then flung it at one of the monkeys. Since they were all quite close together, all I had to do was to fling the ice cream from the spoon somewhere around the most center on them. It hit the monkey at the side of the group and it shrieked on pain. Its cries of pain immobilized me; it was in a lot of pain. Its painful shrieks reminded me of pigs in a slaughterhouse and how the pigs shriek in mercy before being killed mercilessly...
"Everything depends on yourself. The best and most reliable strength comes from yourself, Christine."
I jerked, remembering Blake's words.
"Relying on others will only make you weak."
So this time I gotta be cruel. At least to the monkeys, just this one time. And they attacked me first. Haven't they heard of 'never provoke a girl unless you invite her wrath'?
I placed my blank paper under a dry plate and went around collecting all the ice cream to throw at them before all the ice cream melted into just flavored water. Then, like a crazy mad woman, I spammed the ice cream at the monkeys until one by one, they ran off the way I came from. Satisfied, I walked off to the other exit in the room. Before I reached out for the handle of the door, I remembered that I had left the piece of paper under one of the plates.
Hastily rushing back, I knew I had lost to the monkeys after all, because one last monkey was already running off with the paper. As I started for the monkey, the whole place disappeared and I was returned to the door where I had been with Sam before my test had started. Richard, Blake, Sam, Nick, Zelda, Kes, and Kres were all there. Richard burst into applause, then everyone else including Blake applauded me too. What did I do? I think I had failed the test and they applauded me?
"Congratulations! You're the only one today who had even reached the room with the monkeys. Though you failed there, at the last part, you passed the others with flying colors, and I'm proud to say that our school's only female student can beat the rest of the guys and also emerge as the first in the whole first years in the general knowledge practical test. Up next, you'll be having your physical fitness test. You'll be awarded marks based on how you play the sport you choose. Now any idea what sport you're interested in?" Richard beamed. Blake nodded encouragingly at me. Sam made a gesture which says 'go on'.
"Er...badminton?" I said softly, desperately hoping that there would be badminton in this school, or else I would be lost if I do another sport. "Sam, please bring this lovely girl with a bright future to our school's very special sport hall and straight to the teacher in charge. Be sure to pass him this," Richard have a small piece of paper to Sam and left us after saying goodbye to us.
