I'm packed off to a boarding school in the middle of nowhere...oh and I don't think they're humans~56~

Recap from Part 55:

"We are going to have a barbecue? Hmm, I thought maybe we could do something at home instead," Blake grinned.

"At home? The tension and lack of things to do would bore us to death! I'm surprised of you won't be, you see. Even sometimes sad people need to have a change of environment too," Christine hinted at the chance to improve Kres' social activities.

"But if what I heard is true, Kres had been abused when he was young. This would not help much at all, if his father had tried anything to help him."

Part 56

Christine's eyes widened. "He was abused? How?"

"I don't really know, but it's what I hear from people from the older generation. Anyway, from what I've already seen of Kres all those times I've been together with him, it's obvious that he had been abused. Haven't you seen how he flinches every time someone tries to touch him or how he jumps a little whenever someone accidentally touches him?" Blake cupped his hands around the water and brought it up to drip it over Christine's head as if she was a plant that he took very good care of her by watering her.

Sighing contentedly, Christine hugged Blake to herself so she could burrow her head against his chest. She had made up her mind. She was going to get to know Kres more whether or not he lets her. There was already a person in her mind whom she knew she could start her research on. Kes. The star brother of Kres.

After Christine and Blake had gotten dressed in between kisses and laughs, they made their way down to the living area where Sam already was. They noticed that Sam had brought down a pillow and blankets, and it became obvious what he was up to. "Sam! There are lots of spare rooms upstairs!"

Sam grinned sheepishly. "Christine, you wouldn't mind me sleeping on the sofa, right? After all, I've gotten used to taking the sofa, and if I move back to sleeping on beds I'll have a hard time trying to sleep, and I'll have another round of difficulty sleeping when we're back in school. Surely you would not want me to miss my sleep, eh?"

"You're cheeky," Christine couldn't help laughing. It was a little funny to know that there was someone who was willing to sleep on sofas even though there were enough rooms to spare. But his raised a concern for her. "Are you sure you want to continue sleeping on sofas for the rest of your life? It might not be good for your growth of backbone. Who knows, you might begin to slouch."

"I won't, and guys don't have as much problems as girls," Sam stuck his tongue out at Christine playfully, and that earned him a light slap on his head by Blake. "Hey, I didn't say that I was going to steal your girlfriend!"

"But your action tells me a little," Blake raised one of his eyebrows. "Actions speak louder than words."

"Indeed, but wouldn't your girlfriend have more say in this?" Sam smiled widely.

That made Christine laughed even harder. "Blake, you certainly must be a little more understanding towards your friends. They're not going to steal me away. Though I've got to say you should have a little wee bit more confidence in me."

"Let's just say I hold you in my heart so I'm a little afraid you might fly off somewhere without me knowing," Blake grinned at her and then nodded a silent apology at Sam.

"You owe me one," Sam laughed it off.

"Ahem, back to business, gentlemen, Sam, what do you think of a barbecue? Would it be entertaining enough for a night?"

"It's splendid! I'd love to have one! Would we be able to do it in your house? As in the rooftop?" Sam pointed upwards at the ceiling. "I would like to see what's it like to have a barbecue on a rooftop."

Christine took a little time to think about his suggestion. A barbecue at the rooftop sounded nice indeed, but they would have a lot of trash to clear before the sun comes up. And plenty of dirty dishes to clean too. "I think it's better that we don't have a barbecue at the rooftop. I'm thinking of booking a barbecue pit at the nearby park. The pits are just a few meters away from the sandy shores and there are a few toilets near every few pits. I've been there at night before, and I think you all might like it. The windy breeze is something to be enjoyed too."

"Well then, Mrs Blake, please help us plan this barbecue. I'll be looking forward to it," Sam folded his arms and laid back onto the sofa.

"A barbecue? Really?" Kes bounded down the steps, tugging along an emo looking Kres.
