Chapter 50: You're not going anywhere

(Carl's POV)
I followed my dad over to Jake and Issac.
"They wanted help with work." Dad said, staring at me.
I nodded as he begins to walk away. "Where are you going?" I asked.
He turns back to me. "Helping the others." He said simply before walking off again.
I looked back at Issac and Jake, who had hammers and nails.
"Build a sturdy wall for this place." Issac said with a smirk.
"I can't build a wall on my own. I need help."
Jake rolled his eyes, slapping me across the face.
I spat out my spit, looking back at him and seeing that he has a grin on his face.
"Get your girlfriend to help you then."
I was silent for a second, then spat out my remaining saliva.
"You're not the boss of me asshole."
Jake narrowed his eyes, slapping me again.
I grimaced at the pain, rubbing my cheek.
"Get your girlfriend." He repeated, so I heaved out a sigh.
I walked over to the house that Enid was in, seeing a note...
I took it off the door and unfolded it, reading it.
"Hey! Kid! I told you to get your fucking girlfriend!" Jake yelled, so I turned towards him, tightening my grip on the paper.
"She's gone!" I yelled back.
"What do you mean she's gone? She's in the house." He said as I jogged over to him.
"You fucking bastard. Did you not see the note taped to the door?" I asked, holding up the paper in front of his face.
He grabbed it from me and skimmed through it, raising a brow.
"Babies? What the hell is she-" He began, but I cut him off.
"I got her pregnant, dickhead." I replied, gritting my teeth.
Jake bit down on his bottom lip, then he handed the paper back to me. Well, more like shoved it back...
"I need to find her." I said as I folded the paper up and putting it in my pocket.
Jake shook his head. "You're not going anywhere."
"I have to go. I have to find Enid and make sure she's safe."
He rolls his eyes at me. "You can do that later."
My hands turned into fists. "I'm going out there, and I'm going to find her. Nobody can stop me from finding her."
"Except for Issac and I."
"I don't care about staying here. I only care about finding Enid. My girlfriend. Now let me go and find her."
Issac and Jake looked at each other, then back at me.
"Fine... But be back here by sunset." Issac said as I start to walk away from the two.
I glanced back with a frown.
"I'm not going back." I said simply before jogging towards the woods.
