you were walking along the sidewalk, on your way home from school. you had a pretty decent day, but one thing stuck out in your mind.

your old friend, ethan, had walked past you without even looking at you, smiling at you, nothing. it's like he never saw you, but you know he did. he always fidgets with the string bracelet around his wrist when he's nervous.

you missed him, and wanted to talk to him again, but didn't know what to say. you two had been very close, but one day he just stopped talking to you. you were confused at first, and tried to forget about him. you couldn't though.

you were almost home, when you phone dinged. there was a text from an unknown number. all it said was "i miss you."

you typed in "who is this?" and locked your phone. your phone dinged again but you decided to answer it when you got home.

you walked into your driveway, and went inside your house. you took your bag off, dropping it on the floor. you took your phone out of your back pocket, and opened the message. there on the screen was one word, but it was enough to make you smile.

the text read "ethan."
