you were walking along the sidewalks of hollywood, in california, usa. your daughter was trailing behind you, looking at all the names written in the sidewalks. you were in hollywood for your daughter's sixteenth birthday. her name was bailey.

you occasionally would look down at the stars, but was paying more attention to the way you were going.

you glanced down, and stopped dead in your tracks. your daughter ran into the back of you with a slight "oomph" noise.

"mom, what's wrong?" she asked, taking a step back. she noticed you looking down, and did the same. "ethan dolan, and grayson dolan. who are they?"

you choked back your tears, and looked up at your daughter.

"my first loves, and my inspiration in life. you were named after grayson." you told her with a smile.

"oh. well that's pretty cool. what happened to them? i don't know who they are."

"nothing happened to them, just people forgot about them. all good things must come to an end, right?"

your daughter nodded. "i guess you didn't forget about them?" she asked.

"never." you said. you took one final look at the stars, before sighing and continuing to walk. your daughter wasn't walking behind you anymore. you looked back, and saw her taking pictures of the stars. you smiled, and waited for her.

she finished, and ran over to you.

"i won't forget them either, mom." she said, smiling at you.

this actually pains me, because one day people are going to forget their names. when they're old, and not doing youtube anymore. when they no longer use instagram, twitter, and or snapchat. when they have their own families, and their own lives.

i'm not prepared for the days when i won't be able to watch their videos every tuesday, and like their recent instagram posts.

it's there forever, but they won't be doing it forever.

cherish every day. you never know what you have until it's gone.
