"grayson, where are we going?" you groaned as you followed behind your boyfriend. he was holding your hand and pulling you down the driveway, towards his car.

"you'll see in a minute." grayson replied. he sounded annoyed, and frustrated.

today was your twentieth birthday, and it wasn't going so well. no one had wished you a happy birthday. your parents weren't even home, and all your boyfriend wanted to do was watch tv. now he was forcing you to go somewhere.

grayson led you over to the passenger side of his car, and helped you get in. grayson shut the car door before walking over to the driver's side and getting in. grayson started the car, and backed out of the driveway. after a couple minutes, you started recognizing where you were going; grayson's house. you sighed and put your head back against the seat.

grayson pulled into his driveway. there was one other car here, you assumed it was ethan's. he was your best friend, and grayson's brother. grayson parked his car, then got out. you did the same. grayson waited for you at the top of the driveway. he was on his phone, typing something. you waited for him to finish. he smiled at you as he put his phone into the back pocket of his jeans. you playfully rolled your eyes, and took grayson's hand. you led him up the stone walkway, and up to the front door.

"here, let me open it." grayson said. he let go of your hand, and stuck his key into the door. he fumbled a bit, but eventually got it unlocked. grayson opened the door, and walked into his house. you shut the door behind you, then took your shoes off. grayson already had his shoes off.

"wanna go watch tv in the basement?" grayson asked.

"i guess." you replied. grayson led you to the basement door, and opened it for you. you turned the light on, and went down the stairs. you turned another light on when you got to the bottom, and the whole basement was lit up. you were startled when a bunch of people jumped out at you.

"surprise!" they all yelled. you grinned as you saw all your friends and family grinning back at you.

"happy birthday baby." grayson said as he hugged you from the back, and kissed your cheek.

"i thought you all forgot!" you exclaimed. you noticed your mom and dad, and grayson's parents. you saw ethan, and some of your friends from school.

"how could we forget, sweetie? we'd never forget about you." your mom said with a big smile.

"thanks guys." you smiled. you were surrounded by all your favourite people on your twentieth birthday, and you couldn't be more happy.
