every day for a week, you saw a teenage boy sitting in one of the big black leather chairs at the library, and every day he'd have a different stack of books beside him.

today, he had 'charlotte's web' and 'percy jackson and the lightning thief' in his pile. you recognized the spine of the books. you had put them on the shelves many times after people returned them, and could easily recognize nearly every book in this library.

your grandma owned it, and you were her little helper. you had read pretty much every book from cover to cover, and even had your own little room in the library that was decorated with pillows, blankets, and small twinkle lights. your cat would even sleep there for most of the day.

you watched the boy as he flipped the page in his book, and pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose. you smiled slightly, as you recognized that he was reading the third harry potter book. your favourite book and movie series was harry potter.

you slowly started making your way towards the boy as you pushed your cart full of books over to a shelf. the wheels on the cart squeaked, causing the boy to look up. you looked over at him, and he smiled. you watched as his pale pink lips curved up, and small dimples formed on his cheeks. you smiled back, before looking away.

"do you work here?" the boy asked. his voice was gentle, but deep.

"er, um" you cleared your throat. "yeah, i do."

"have you ever read this book?" the boy asked, holding up the book that was in his hands so you could see the cover.

"yes, many times."

the boy grinned. "me too." was all he said.

"what's your name?" you ditched the book cart, and walked over to the boy. you sat down in the big chair across from him, and he shifted the pile of books over so he could see you better.

"grayson. what's yours?" the boy replied.

"i'm y/n."

"nice to meet you, y/n."

"nice to meet you too, grayson."

you and grayson talked for a little while longer, and you even added a few more books to his pile. you just added three of your favourites, that you would recommend to anyone.

eventually, your grandma came over to let you two know that the library was closing. grayson put all his books in his grey backpack, and walked down one of the aisles with you, to the main doors.

"this is where we depart. i have to clean up, then lock the doors." you said. grayson frowned playfully, but quickly turned it into a smile.

"okay, well maybe i'll see you tomorrow." he said.

"yeah, i work tomorrow." you replied.

"great. bye, y/n."

"bye, grayson." you smiled, and watched as grayson left the library, and walked away into the setting sun.

you smiled, and leaned back against the glass doors. you sighed, before walking away to start helping your grandma clean up. you ran upstairs to grab your cat, and put him in his carrier to bring him home for the night.
