this is based off the song "guys my age" by hey violet. im obsessed with it
____________you walked into the crowded club, and pushed your way through the sweaty bodies that were dancing against each other. the whole place smelt like a mix of alcohol, and different perfumes from all the girls that strutted around.
you adjusted your black skin tight dress as you dodged two people that were dancing. you found the bar, and took a seat. you looked to your left, and saw a man staring at the counter in front of him. he had tanned skin, and a sharp jawline. his hair was jet black, and messy.
"what can i get you?" the bartender asked as he dried a glass with a towel.
"surprise me." you smirked. the bartender nodded, and set the glass down. you watched him as he got a few ingredients prepared, like ice and vodka. you noticed the dark haired man look over at you, and you turned your head to look at him. he smiled slightly before facing forward.
"you having a bad night too?" you yelled over the noise. the man looked over at you.
it was dark in the club, but you could still see that he wasn't that much older than you. five years at the maximum.
"yeah, i am. what about you?" he replied.
"eh, i wouldn't say it's horrible."
"but it could be better?"
"oh definitely." you nodded.
"well, i don't think mine can get any worse." the man chuckled. he looked sad, and guilty.
"what happened?" you asked. the man shook his head, and took a sip of his drink.
"it's a long story." he answered.
"i have time."
you saw the man's shoulders rise up as he sighed.
"you really wanna know?" he asked. you simply nodded your head. your drink was slid over to you, and you thanked the bartender. you took a sip as the man started his story.
"my girlfriend dumped me, and my brother moved out." the man said.
"that's pretty bad, but it could be worse. i mean, you could be dead or something." you replied.
"that's true." the man took another swig of his drink.
"that wasn't even that long, either."
"well, there's details." the man said. "anyways, what's going on in your life?"
"my parents are getting a divorce." you replied before having some of your drink.
"that sucks. my parents divorced when i was five." the man said.
there was a long pause as the two of you just sat there. the bartender had given you each new drinks, as you finished the other ones.
"i'm y/n, by the way." you said. the man looked over at you and smiled.
"i'm ethan." he said.
"how old are you, ethan?"
"twenty six, you?"
"oh, i'm twenty two."
"only a four year difference. when you were born, i was doing the craziest stuff with my brother." ethan chuckled.
"yeah? tell me about him." you said. ethan obviously seemed fond of his brother.
"well, uh, his name is grayson. and we're twins." ethan replied.
"dang, i've always wanted a twin." you stated. ethan grinned.
"it's pretty fun, most of the time." he said. "do you kinda wanna get out of here? i think i'm going deaf from this music." ethan asked.
"yeah, sure." you replied. you and ethan got up from your chairs, and paid for your drinks before leaving the club. you breathed in the fresh air as you stepped outside. the slight wind was refreshing on your skin.
"do you live near by here? i can walk you home if you want." ethan said.
"yeah, i live a couple streets away." you replied.
you and ethan walked together, talking the whole time. eventually you got to the front of your apartment building.
"thanks for walking me." you smiled.
"it's no big deal. we should hang out again." ethan said.
you nodded, and pulled out your phone. "here, put in your number." you said and handed ethan your phone. he typed a few things before handing your phone back to you.
"there you go." he said, smiling.
"thanks. i guess i'll see you later then." you said.
"hopefully. bye, y/n." ethan said and started walking down your street, away from you and your apartment building.
