I woke up to my phone buzzing frantically on my nightstand. It was 5, the sun starting to set. My room was bathed in a golden light, touching even the darkest corners. I grabbed at my phone, rolling over.

"Yeah?"

My voice was groggy.

"Baby"

His breathy voice. I smiled.

"Hi."

"Can you get here?"

His voice was frantic. I sat up, more awake.

"What's wrong?"

"Just, I don't know what happened and.. I need to clean this up."

A tremble. I shot up, hurrying to put on my jeans. I slid a hoodie on and slipped on my vans.

"Oliver don't go anywhere I'll be right there."

I shoved my phone into my pocket and blindly grabbed keys from the counter. I slid into my car, it's cold engine roaring up. I didn't wait and sped from the driveway, racing down the streets. It was late enough that there wasn't many cars out. I rolled a few stop signs, my heart racing. I came to screeching halt in front of his house. I spilled out, slamming my door. I ran up his lawn, sliding on the snow and ice. I barreled through the front door.

"Oliver?!"

I yelled.

"In the kitchen."

He sounded calm. I rushed over, my wet shoes sliding on the hardwood. I grabbed the doorframe to steady myself. My heart was jumping wild in my chest, mind racing. He stood there, long body leaning against the counter. He wore light blue jeans and a dark red long sleeve shirt. I came to him, cupping his shoulders.

"What's wrong? Are you hurt?"

I ran my hands over his arms, feeling for something. My hands came to his waist and he steadied them with his own.

"I am now."

His honey eyes met mine. They were warm, dancing with delight. He kissed me, lips warm and soft. I pulled away from him, hands firm on his waist.

"You're ok?"

I meant it as a question, but my voice conveyed it's relief.

"I am."

I leaned my forehead against his, my body calming.

"Don't do that again. Please? You nearly gave me a heartattack."

"I won't. But I wanted to surprise you."

"With?"

"Dinner."

The smell surrounded my head. It was sweet, buttery.

"I hope you like chicken."

I sat at the counter, my palms pressed against the cold surface. He slid a glass of water towards me. I felt his hands on my back, circling around my waist.

"Where are your parents."

"Out."

His lips against my back.

"For how long?"

"Long enough."

Another kiss.

"What has warranted this surprise?"

He was pressed against me, his warm body radiating.

"I got the internship. And possible money for school."

I tried not to tense.

"What did you think of the head?"

I felt his hand slide down the inside of my thigh.

"He was fine"

My breath hitched.

"Kind of short. I definitely have a thing for tall guys."

The thought of Josh lingered in the back of my mind. The way he took Oliver in, his eyes stripping him. It was like a weight pushed down on my veins, a great amount of pressure. I grabbed his hand, pushing it against my leg. My fingers curled around his palm, gripping tightly.

"When do you start?"

I said weakly.

"Monday."

"Do you want me to take you?"

"No. He's letting me use a company car."

I glanced at the set of the keys laying on the counter.

"It's not nicer than the jag is it?"

I said halfheartedly. He laughed.

"Not nearly. It's just a ford. Standard. Black."

I nodded. He pulled his hand from my grasp, them coming to rest on my shoulders.

"Are you alright?"

I shrugged.

"Just thinking about a lot of things."

He slid into the seat next to me.

"Like what?"

"School. Working. My parents. You"

"What about school?"

I gave him a small smile.

"Everything. I'm not prepared. My grades are...Well my grades are a sinking ship all their own. I can't focus."

"You know I'll help you study."

"I didn't say that studying was the problem. It's the fact that my head is wrapped around you. You just block out anything else I have to worry about."

There was a softness that brushed his face.

"I seem to be more trouble than I'm worth."

He whispered.

"Yeah you are."

I whispered back, grabbing his hand.
