Ouch! I sat up slowly off the living room floor, my head was spinning. I carefully looked around to make sure he wasn't here. Thankfully i came up clean, meaning he left for work already. I grabbed onto the chair and pulled myself to my feet. It took me a second to gain balance as i slowly made my way up to my room on the second floor. When i finally reached my room i went into the bathroom and was horrified at the girl looking back at me. How did i let things get so bad? When did things go so bad? Last time i checked i was happy, i had parents who cared and loved me like i was the most important thing in their world. Guess things changed when we moved to this town. I wiped the memories of my past from my mind as i got into the hot shower, the water relaxing my aching body. I stayed in a little longer than needed before stepping out, quickly dried myself and threw on my usual hoodie and jeans. I applied some make up to my face to cover the damage of last nights events and looked myself over. Damn, i wasn't fooling anyone but here goes nothing.
I arrived at school and got the usual stare down from the girls, and chuckles from the boys. I hated this place more than anything. I got to my locker without any trouble thankfully, and i was greeted by Layla.
"Morning Jess!" She says with a bright smile. Layla Stevenson could brighten anyone's day no matter what the situation was. She had a bubbly personality and was an all around amazing person. She had Long Blonde pin straight hair with Red ends, Bright Green eyes, and a perfect body. She was every guy at this schools dreams in my mind. I mean, she was perfect, lord knows what she picked me of all people to be friends with. But when we were starting off as freshman i wasn't like what i am now, no way, i was just like her. I was a bright, bubbly person, but events took place and now i am the freak and outcast of the school.
"Morning Layla," i greet back to her with a small smile as i open my locker. She leans on the wall watching me.
"So, i was wondering if you wanted to hang out this weekend? Maybe catch a movie, or a party, or just chill at my house?" she says with a concerned look. I knew that she knew for awhile something has been off, but she never asked about it, and for that i am very thankful.
I shrug, "I don't know, i will have to ask my dad about it... I have a ton of homework to catch up on," i tell her was we walk toward out first hour which we have together.
"Oh well, just text me and let me know the details. We haven't really had a girls night out since forever ago baby girl," she says nudging my shoulder with hers making me smile a little.
I sigh, "I know, just a lot has been going on and i haven't had time to do all the fun stuff we used to. I'm sorry Layla," i say feeling like a horrible friend. Not just for not hanging out with her, but for lying over and over again about the bruises and cuts and my skipping school. I hated lying to one of the only people who cared about me in this town, But what other choice did i have.
"Alright class take your seats please," Mrs. Anderson says as the class finally starts to settle down. As soon as everyone is seated she starts her lesson. Half way through the class door opens and we all turn to look. Of course it is Justin and Ryan, they are never actually on time for class, ever. I watched as they walked in and took their usual seats in the back of the classroom and talked silently with each other. No teachers dared to yell at them, they were the school bad boys. Justin Bieber was the baddest of the bad, i mean the boy was in a gang i heard, but not just any gang, the biggest one in this State.
"Psst," Layla whispered to me.
"What?" i whispered back. She nods her head toward the two trouble makers and i shrug and turn back toward the teacher as she goes over the new project we are going to be doing.
"I will also be picking who you will be partnered with for this assignment," she says making the whole class groan. I look at Layla and she has the same disappointed look on her face that every other person in the class room has. She goes down the list pairing people up. Layla got paired with some new kid who doesn't know his way around the school yet, but she was happy about that because it's just the type of person she is.
"Jessica Hernandez and Justin Bieber," she says. The words left her mouth and everyone turns toward me as i shrink back into my seat. "Alright class is over, have a good weekend," Mrs. Anderson says putting papers away.
"This is going to be fun," i hear Justin say to Ryan as i leave the class with Layla by my side. Dear Lord what have i just got myself into..
