Chapter 81

I slowlu opened my eyes and was welcomed by pure darkness, only the sound of the trees moving fromt he wind could be heard, along with a few frogs and crickets. I relax alittle and lean back again, but i stay awake. I hear the growl again and then a snap of a branch. I sit up fast causing Justin to stir a little from his sleep. I look around in hopes of seeing even the smallest thing. Another snap made me whip my head again, then a hand covered my mouth as I freak out.

"Shh, don't make an noise or sudden movements," Justin whispers to me as he removes his hand from my mouth. I nod and we both look around. The growl came from behind us this time and in fear i grab Justins upper arm as he slowly goes to get up.

"What are you doing?" I whisper freaking out. I removes my hand from his arm and stands all the way.

"Stay here Jess, and i mean it," He says as he walks around the tree. My heart beats faster as i lose sight of him. Another growl gets me to look in front of me.

"Justin!" I whisper getting more scared. I slowly lean my back on the tree for support as i get to my feet and stay leaning on it to stand. Suddenly i see a flash of fur run in front of me and i jump making me fall. I land on the ground and the flash of fur stop a few feet away, but it was still to dark to see it. MY heart beat picks up ten times its normal rate as it steps closer and closer.

"Jess," Justin says helpign me up and pushing me behind him as he holds a log in his hand. I grip onto his torn shirt and look around him.

"What the hell is it?" I say freaking out. I just doesn't say anything as the fur moves closer. We back up until the moonlight is shining between us. It steps further and we look....It's a dog, a yellow lab. Justin lowers his log and we relax a little.

"It's just a dog," i say with a sigh of relief. I get down on my knees and hold my hand out toward the dog.

"Jess, don't it could be dangerous," Justin says as the dog slowly approches us and licks my hand. I smile and pull the dog into my arms. It relaxes and leans on me.

"It's just lost...Like us," i whisper as i kiss the dogs head, it's giving me a sense of comfort and safety. Justin soon relaxes and sits back in our normal sleeping position with me between his legs and the dog between mine. I keep petting the dog until i fall asleep.

I wake up the feeling of cold water. I jump as a ton of drops fall on my exposed skin. I jump a little and Justin laughs from in front of me. I open my eyes and see him petting a very wet dog.

"Sorry, we went for a morning swim," Justin says laughing. I glare at him and examine our new member. The dog was very dirty, like it has been lost for awhile now, it had a cut on its nose, looks like it healed tho, and all together if it was cleaned up would be a beautiful dog.

"It's a girl," Justin says looking around the area. I smile and pet the dog, she has no coller on so she doesn't belong to anyone i guess.

"Any idea where we are yet?" I say as i get up slowly, my ankle was not as bad today, guess it wasn;t anythng broken after all. I limp over to the river edge with him and look around as the dog splashes in the water.

"See that?" He says pointing to a small marker in the sand on the river bank. I nod.

"What is it?" i asked him as he stares at it.

"A hunting marker..... someone has hunting traps out here," he says in a different ton.

"Well, that's good right? that means we aren't to far out?" i say with a little hope. He nods but with a serious face.

"It also means, every step could be our last," he says grabbing my hand as we start making our way up the river. I whistle and the dog comes with us, leading us jumping through the weeds, then in the water making me laugh.

It seemed like we were walking forever again, but the dog stopping made us stop. It was looking at something a few feet away.

"What is it doing?" I asked letting go of Justins arm.

"Hunting..That's what kind of dog it is...But i don't see any animals," he says confused.

""What is it baby?" I say petting the dogs back. It barks making me jump a little. She runs over and circles a spot on the ground. I look at Justin.

"She found a trap," he says with a smile and slowly approches the dog. He takes a stick and pokes arounnd a little until a bear trap snapps the stick in half.

"Is that a bear trap?" I say in shock as Justin picks it up. He nods.

"We need to get out of these woods," he say grabbing my hand as we keep going.

We walked another few hours until we both had to much, i was now running a fever, no doubt from alll the cuts and the freezing water. Justin wasn't looking so good either, even if he says he is fine.

"Here's a fallen tree, we can sleep here for the night," Justin says as we crawl under it and lay down. The dog, that i have now decided to name Jade lays at the opening of the tree by our feet.

"night Jade," I whisper as we drift to sleep. But out rest didn't last long because a bad storm rolled in and it started to down poor. I moved closer to Justin as we moved further under the tree. We were now covered in mud and soaked as it continued to storm. 

"I wonder how the twins are?" I whisper as i shiver in Justin's arms. He kisses my head and leans his head on my shoulder.

"I am sure Layla, Zack, and the gang are taking good care of them babe," he says making e relax a little. A thunder made me jump and Justin tightens his grip on me as we wait the storm out. After awhile Jade gets to her feet and starts barking and growling at something.
