Chapter 30

After having coffee with Allison i decided on telling Justin and Pattie over dinner tonight, i mean he can't get to mad can he? He is the one who wanted me to get close to my mom again after all. Layla and i waited by Justin's car after Allison left.

"How'd it go?" Justin says walking up with Zack. I smile and shrug.

"Alright, we are getting to know each other pretty good now, i like her a lot," i say as we drive away. Layla and Zack were whispering in the back of the car. 

"That's great, glad to see you two reconnecting after all these years," He says holding my hand with his free one that wasn't steering the car. I smile and look out the window.

Sitting at dinner with Pattie, Jazzy, Jaxon, and Justin was hard. I wasn't ready to leave them, i mean they have done so much for me and i could never thank them enough.

"So, how was school?" Pattie said breaking the silence. Justin just shruged.

"Some as always, boring teachers and long classes," he says making me giggle. Pattie smiles.

"And how about you Jessica?" she asked taking a bite of her food. I shrug too.

"I don't know, nothing new i guess," I say avoiding the subject. She looks at me.

"Are you sure...I noticed you had a few new bruises," she says with concern. Justin looks at my arm and frowns.

"It's nothing..I just....ugh Maddie pushed me into the book case in the library," i say breaking down and telling them..Justin drops his fork and his jaw does the twitch thing that it does when he is angry.

"Why didn't you tell me? I told her to leave you alone," Justin say sounding mad. I noticed Jazzy and Jaxon looking at him a little afraid.

"Justin, calm down... It's Maddie, nothing will ever stop her from making other people's lives suck. It's fine, i handled it," i say seeing him relax a little.

"Next time tell me," he say holding my hand under the table.

"So, anything new at all?" Pattie asked changing the subject. I nod and get nervous.

"Um, actually i went for coffee with Allison today after school," i say taking a drink. Pattie smiles and claps her hands together in excitment.

"Oh honey that is wonderful," She says. I nod.

"Yeah, and we talked and... She has a house only on the next street over... And she was wondering if i wanted to actually move in with her," i said avoiding eye contact. I felt Justin's hand grip mine a little more tighter, not hurting but noticeable that he was not liking the idea at all.

"Oh, i think that is a great idea, don't you Justin?" she asked him. I look up and see him looking at me with an unknown expression in his eyes. He nods and smiles a little.

"Yeah, i think it would be good for both of you," he says and i smile back at him. 

After dinner i go upstairs to pack my few belongings i have here. I heard Justin walk in and sigh and i turn around.

"Justin, if you aren't okay with this then just tell me please. I will stay if you want me to," i say in an unreadable tone.

"I want you to go, but at the same time i don't," he says walking to the window and looking out. I walk over and wrap my arms around him and lay my head on his arm.

"Why don't you want me to go?" i whisper. He turns so he has his arms around me and my head is now laying on his chest.

"I'm afraid..... I'm afraid something is going to happen to you. They haven't found your uncle yet and my worst fear is that he will come after you and i won't be there to protect you. I'm afraid that you are going to get upset or something and hurt yourself," he says looking down at me with so much emotion. I smile a little and lean up and plant a soft kiss in his lips before pulling away.

"You don't need to worry about me Justin. I'll be with my mom, he doesn't know she is back in town so how would he know where the house is? If he hasn't been around for almost three weeks he won't just show up.... And i won't hurt myself, i promise," i say holding out my pinky like a little kid. He smiles and wraps his pinky with mine and pulls me close so our chests are touching out hands.

"Never break that promise, or you'll break my heart," he whispers to me. I smile.

"Wouldn't dream of it...But you have to promise me something in return," i whisper back. He smiles and nods. "Promise that no matter how hard it is to be with me, you won't give up on me, you won't leave me for someone else without a reason," i say knowing he probably won't make this promise. He smiles and leans closer.

"I promise," he says kissing my cheek. "Now, let's get you to your new house," he says picking up my bag. As he walks out the bedroom door i run and hope on his back. He doesn't even lose balance he just wraps his arms around my legs to keep me up as i wrap my arms around his neck and kiss his cheek. We walk downstairs and Pattie smiles.

"You two are so adorable," he gushes making Justin groan and me giggle.

"Mother please, you are embarassing me," Justin says opeing the front door. Pattie laughs and follows us out.

"Oh baby, it's my job as a mother....Anyways, have fun Jessica, and the doors alway open when you want to come here," she says waving as we walk down the street.

When we get to Allison's house i ring the doorbell still on Justin's back laughing at a joke he just told me. The front door opens and Allison smiles at us.

"Oh come in you two," she says backing up and opening the door more so we could get in. Justin walks in and i slide off his back and look around. The house was pretty big, almost as big as Justin's and that was pretty big.

"wow, for a women who lives alone you sure do have money," Justin says looking around as well. Allison laughs.

"Actually i have a good paying job i do right from home... And i'm not really alone," she says right as a little girl no older than two walks into the room laughing chasing two Black labs around. I look at Allison in shock, she had another family?
