Chapter 80

I jumped before i could second guess myself. I felt the wind and roar of the flames fly past me as i went down. I crashed into the racing river and hit the rocks on the bottom. The current was fast and quickly pulled me along with it, i felt something wrap around my waist and pull me to the surface but i must have hit my head because i couldn't open my eyes.

"Jessica stay awake," Justin struggles to say as him and I are now both being dragged with the flowing river toward the rapids. I shake my head and wrap my arms around his neck for more support as i regain consciousness.

"Grab something," I just barely get out in a whisper. The water was at freezing temperatures even for summer time, and i has several cuts and what felt like a broken ankle. Justin tried grabbing onto rocks, fallen logs and tres but nothing helped, we were being pulled to fast. I slipped into darkness again but i could hear everything around me.

"Jessica," Justin said shaking me a little. I wake up and look at the sight before us, the rapids were approching and very few people survive them in this kind of situation. I felt the current below us sweep us up and the rapids swallowed us into its death rolls and hits from rocks and logs. I lost my grip on Justin and he did the same to me and there was nothing we could do to help it.

It felt like forever, being tossed around like a rag doll, was i dead or what? I was in so much pain. I felt something hard touch my stomach, land. I still couldn't open my eyes tho, or move. I knew i had washed up on a bank tho, i was sure of it. 

"Jessica!" I heard someone shout then cough. Justin, he was okay. I tried moving again but nothing, still complete darkness. Then i felt something cold touch my skin on my exsposed back where my shirt must have ripped a little. I felt him pull me up onto a grass area and roll me on my back. I was slipping away now, drowning from the inside out. I was choking on water. The sudden warmness of his lips on mine made me tinggle, he was doing mouth to mouth. I felt him pushing on my chest and water coming up slowly, then he did mouth to mouth again. I rolled on my side and coughed up about half the river.

"Thank god," Justin said pulling me into his arms as i regained my normal breathing. It took awhile before i fianlly was able to talk.

"We're alive," i barely said in shock. Justin pulled back and wiped my wet hair out of my face. I got a look at him now, a cut above his eye and on his cheek, his arms, his cloths were ripped and it looked like his arm was fractured or broken.

"Are you crazy, the river of all places," He said looking over my face. He touched my forehead and i hissed in pain and pulled away. I looked at his hand and there was blood. I slowly touched the spot where he had and hissed again.

"You hit your head when you jumped, and the rapids didn't really help much," Justin said as he pulled me closer again and looked at my arms. I had so many cuts and bruises already, then i look at my ankle, it was swallon and hurt.

"I think it's broken," I say in a normal voice, not pain or anything, i was to cold to feel anything anymore. Justin slowly ran his hand over it making me jump a little because it hurt when he touched it.

"Just a sprain," he says looking around. I take the time to look around as well.

"Where are we?" I ask, all surrounding us was woods, and lots of it.

"Some where in the forest, i am not sure. But the river carried us miles through rapids, we could be anywhere by now," he says getting up with a struggle. I sit up and look around some more, no way we were getting out of here any time soon.

"I lost my phone in the river too," I say knowing that was our only hope at this point. Justin looks down at me.

"This is my fault....I should have never got you involved in my life, i should have left after high school," he says sitting back down next to me. I take his face carefully in my hands.

"Hey, don't say that. I decided to stay with you, i knew your past and i don't care...What we need to focus on now is getting home," i whisper making him look at me.

"We could be walking for miles," he says getting up pulling me to my feet to, only i fall into him because of my foot. 

"No way am i making it miles let alone a few steps," i say losing all hope. He smiles and picks me up so i was on his back. I wrap my arms around him for dear life.

"You don't have the energy to carry me Justin...Plus your arm is clearly broken or something," i say noticing he isn't holding one of my legs like the other one.

"Just enjoy the ride princess.... We will walk awhile then find somewhere to sleep that isn't out in the open where animals can get us," Justin says. I forgot he knows so much about the woods. I roll my eyes and lean my chin on his shoulder as he walks along the river.

"If we follow the river we should come across a bridge, and a bridge means a town near by," he says as he hikes along the banks.

What seemed like hours later he finally stopped and set me down. He laid on his back and took some deep breaths.

"I can't go any further, the rapids killed me," he says with no hope left either. I look around, we were still in the middle of no where, no bridges in sight, nothing.

"Well, let's sleep and in the morning we will figure something out," i say as he sits so his back is against a tree and i am between his legs. We fall asleep sitting up. I don't know how long we were out but a low growling noise woke me up.
