Chapter 29

When I return from my quick shower, Lauren is sitting on the floor, facing the mirror doing her make-up. She always has extremely dark eye make-up that must take her forever to do. Her lavender hair is long and wavy as it flows down her back.

“Going out?” I ask, while setting my shower bag at the foot of my bed.

“As a matter of fact, I am. There’s a big party at the boy’s house tonight, you know?” She asks while applying mascara effortlessly.

“Yeah, I’m planning to go to” I retort grabbing my straightener and walking over to the other mirror. I take a seat on the floor, my back to Lauren’s. After a few more minutes she finishes her intricate make-up and walks over to grab her purse.

“See you there” She smirks before shutting the door behind her. Basking in her absence, I plug my phone into the speakers and turn on my favorite 8tracks mix. Then I return to my seat on the floor, before I finish my hair. After that I apply my mascara and eyeliner, before a little bit of lip gloss. I check my phone, 7:18. I am supposed to be there at 7:30, so I have roughly 15 minutes to get dressed and get there. With the minimal time, I rush to the closet and pull on the first thing I see. It is a tight, deep purple dress that reaches mid-thigh. I quickly pull on a pair of black panty-hos before slipping on my black converse. I have to have a little touch of myself in this outfit. I grab my keys and phone before running out the door, since it is such a beautiful night and I had a bit of time to kill, I decided to walk to the party.

The roads are surprisingly quiet, until I reach the house, the party is already raging. I can hear the music blasting out through the walls, and there are many people outside. It still amazes me that the house doesn’t get completely trashed every night. I quickly walk past people to get through the door. When I get inside I am immediately greeted by Calum, he is talking to a girl.

“Hey” He says embracing me into a hug, leaving the girl standing alone. He quickly notices and returns to her. “Charlotte, this is Sara. Sara, this is Charlotte”

We exchanged an awkward hello before I excuse myself and make my way through the house to find Michael. I walk through the first few rooms but there is no sight of him. I swing by the kitchen and grab a drink off the counter. After that I keep making my way down the hall and into the large living room.

But when I did my heart immediately dropped into my stomach. This isn’t the way I wants to find him, not again. As I take in the scene I notice Laurens purple hair at first, then I notice the fact that their lips are pressed together and she is sitting on his lap. I stopped dead in my tracks, to sad to even move. I thought things like this were over by now, Michael had finally gained my trust but threw it away like it was nothing. The fact that this is the second time this has happened makes it ten times worse. Both times were at these stupid parties too, nothing good ever happens when I come to these. Once I finally come back into reality Lauren is standing in front of me.

“What the hell Lauren?!” I scream at her, just receiving a devilish smile in return.

“Oh, I’m sorry, was that you’re boyfriend?” She taunts.

“Yeah, he kind of was”

“Oh, I’m sorry” She says obviously lying.

“That wasn’t cool Lauren” I say, tears threatening to spill over.

“You know what else isn’t cool?” She asks. “Some stupid little girl coming in here and stealing my best friends right out from under me. You replaced me, I used to come here and have movie nights and go out for lunch, but that was before you came and stole it. So I decided to get revenge and steal something from you.”
