Chapter 20
I walk into my room, sweating from the small jog I just took. Lauren isn’t anywhere to be found, not that I’m complaining. I make my way over to the closet to pick out what I’m going to wear to the boys party tonight. I don’t really have anything fancy, I made sure to leave that stuff at home, so I just grab a pair of black skinny jeans and my plain purple V-neck. I put them in my bag before making my way to the showers. I take a long shower, washing off all of the stress of classes from the past two days. I also try to wash away the nerves of me and Leo turning in our story on Monday, I know it is pretty decent writing and all but I’m afraid of getting judged by the professor and the other students. I wash all of the sweat and grime out of my thick hair. Once I am finished I dry myself off and pull on my clothes. I make my way back to the dorm, giving and receiving nice smiles in the hall.
When I get back to the room I blow my hair dry and carefully straighten it, making sure I get all the waves out. I pull it back, leaving a little bit hanging down by my ears, then I straighten it to make it look cleaner. After I am done I grab my makeup bag and apply a little bit of foundation, lip gloss, and liquid eyeliner. I slip my phone into my back pocket along with some emergency money, just in case. I grab my room key and lock the door before sliding it into my pocket, and walking out of the dorm building.
I drive the short few miles to the boys rental home, when I arrive the part is already in full swing. I sit in the car for a bit thinking about what to say to Michael when I get inside, me and him have been hanging out nonstop the past few days after class. He waits outside my film class for me and then we go to my dorm or his house and I work on my homework while he occupies himself. I think we both just like the company. I finally just to go with whatever happens and I get out of the car. I make my way to the door, I open it to a smiling Ashton walking through the hall with a cup in his hand.
“Hi Charlotte” He says before embracing me in a small hug.
“Hey Ashton, have you seen Michael?” I ask while looking around.
“Nope, I haven’t seen Loverboy in a while.” He teases as I jab him with my elbow.
“Thanks anyway” I say before making my way into the big crowd of people. I spot Luke in the far corner leaning on the wall, talking to a brunette. He notices me and gives me a small wave, I return the gesture. I’m actually kind of surprised I haven’t seen Lauren around here anywhere, this is where I expected her to be. I keep walking around not finding Michael anywhere, but I do see Calum sitting in the middle of the couch next to a girl I’ve never seen before. I make my way over to them and take the vacant seat on the other side of him. He doesn’t notice me until I tap him on the shoulder, giving him a big smile.
“Hi Calum” I say cheerily.
“Oh, hey” He says blandly. He has kind of been keeping his distance from me since the day we went to Target, I don’t understand why though because we sorted it all out. He turns back around and starts the conversation with the girl again. Just because there is another girl that is giving him attention doesn’t mean that he has to completely drop me off. I sit there watching all of the people around me having a good time, when I am here in my world, swallowed by my loneliness in a crowded room. There are people around me drinking, making out, dancing, and some like me, completely alone. It’s bad when the closest friend you have here is ignoring you, it doesn’t help anything. After a few more minutes of wallowing in my sadness I tap Calum on the shoulder again.
“Yes?” He says rudely giving me a glare.
“First, stop glaring.” I say, “And second, have you seen Michael?” I ask
“Kitchen maybe?” He suggests before turning back to the petite girl who is now climbing onto his lap, ugh.
“Who was that?” She asks
