he was disappointed, disappointed at the fact that you didn't come to school on the day of your one year anniversary. disappointment was written all over his face. he was feeling down the whole day, at how you didn't reply hie texts or calls.

as he walked up your door, the lights were off and the curtains were drawn. he was devastated. the life in his eyes were sucked out of him. he just need you by his side. he just wanted to see you one more time.

he couldn't forget the day he met you, nor the day where he confessed to you in the most awkward way possible. the days spent with you were the best days of his life.

he waited for you at your doorstep the whole day, but you still didn't come.

"tsukishima!" hinata called out behind him. the orange headed boy lost his energetic self at the moment when he saw the blonde's disappointed face.

"what?" tsukishima asked in an annoyed tone, and the usually energetic boy frowned before saying, "my condolences." tanaka slapped his head before whispering, "wrong phrase you idiot!"

the blonde scowled and grabbed his collar, lifting him up to his eye level before growling, "what did you say?"

"didn't you hear the news last night? (first name)-san was involved in a car crash last night, she was on her way back from the shopping mall but a car knocked her down," tanaka said softly, his eyes glued to the ground.

in that moment, everything around tsukishima seemed to freeze. memories were playing in his mind like a slideshow, and he couldn't breathe.

"do you know where is she?" he asked, his tall figure towering the two males.

"i think it's she's at the (random hospital name) right now," tanaka answered and watched the middle blocker sprint off. hinata and the baldie sighed heavily before walking towards the school, deciding that they'll see their hospitalized friend later.

that day was filled with regrets. tsukishima held onto (f/n)'s cold hand and burying his head in his the other hand, tears staining his palm as he held onto her hand tightly.

he was really scared right now, scared that he would lose her. the volleyball team had came later that evening to visit (f/n), and left about an hour later.

tsukishima really appreciated it, though he didn't express it. his eyes were fixated on (y/n) again, looking at her pale face and fragile body. he rest his head on his hands, and slowly fell asleep.

-

the male woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare. sweat coated his forehead and he could feel how his heart was speeding.

he stood up from his chair, feeling the need to wash his face and get some coffee from the vending machine a few meters away from the ward. before he left (f/n)'s side, he took one last glance at her near perfect face and then shut the door quietly behind him.

minutes later, tsukishima held the hot coffee in his hands and walked towards the ward, only to find doctors and nurses scurrying around the ward. the hot beverage in his hand slipped and fell to the floor, the liquid splashed all around him.

"what's going on?" he demanded with an unsteady voice as he tried to get past the nurses. though he was over 6 feet tall, he still couldn't get past.

"sir, we are trying to operate an emergency rescue here, please let us do our job!" one of the nurses calmed him down, and it worked. he nodded hesitantly and backed away, crumbling down into one of the chairs.

he ruffled his hair in frustration, and hugged his knees close to his chest. tears began flowing out of his eyes but he was just too lazy to wipe them away.

he stayed like that for seconds, minutes, then hours in that position. he waited and waited, and paced outside the ward impatiently.

then, the door opened, revealing the doctors with tired and crestfallen faces. tsukishima gripped his shoulders and asked, "how is she? is she alright?"

they shook their heads, and tsukishima took that as a signal that she was gone. his everything, his world, his love, was gone. he had never been so shocked and devastated before.

the doctor and nurses shuffled away, and the blonde was left in frozen his spot, his lips trembling and his heart aching.

-2 days later-

tsukishima was a wreck. he had not been attending school nor practice and all he did was just stay at home, lying in bed. his mother would leave food outside his door and he'd take a few bites before leaving them outside again.

he would look at pictures of (y/n) and cry over them, every night he would just stare up at the ceiling and let his tears fall.

he stared at the beautifully wrapped present box on his study table. it was from (y/n), apparently she had went to the mall to buy that gift for the blonde as it was their anniversary, then the tragic happened.

he had a mental debate whether to open it or not, but every time he touched the present, he would feel a jolt of pain in his chest.

-a week later-

things were getting better for tsukishima, he started attending school and practice, ate more and started to do productive things. but people around him still felt that he was different, though he said he was alright now, they thought otherwise.

the snappy and sarcastic remarks from him were gone, the mocking tone in his voice vanished and the smirk that he always wore erased. tsukishima didn't felt like tsukishima. he's like a completely different person.

one night, he just decided to open the present and get over with it. he sat in his chair, stared at the present for a few minutes before sucking in a deep breath and tear the wrapping paper open.

there was a few flowers and a teddy bear inside the box. a card was pasted on the lid and tsukishima braced himself and finally had the courage to read it.

it went, 'dear tsukki, happy one year anniversary. this one year had been the best year of my life although you're always salty and sarcastic. but nonetheless, you're the best guy i've ever met and loved.

it's silly to ask, but do you remember our firsts? our first encounter, first eye contact, first conversation, first touch and more. i remember them, and i don't think i would ever forget them.

you're the best boyfriend ever, and i know it's really cheesy to say this but, i'll love you until the last flower dies. :) - (y/n)

his eyes were watery and the tears spilled profusely. he scanned the flower, and realized that all of them had wilted, except for one. he picked the last one up, and felt even more bad realizing that it was a plastic flower. he placed the flower beside his bed.

he picked the teddy bear up, and saw that there was a necklace hung around the bear's neck. it was a heart shaped necklace that had a picture of them smiling together. tsukishima had to cover his mouth to prevent the loud sobs from escaping his mouth.

"(y/n)," he cried into his palm, his body shaking as he put on the necklace while choking on his sobs. he held the bear in his hands and smiled.

"how could i move on if you're doing this to me?" he whispered.
