ever since the first day of high school, your fellow schoolmates and the teachers have already labelled you as the "worst student".

not that your grades were bad, in fact, you've always made it to the top ten in class. and there were 30 students in your class.

what made you earn that title was your behaviour in school. what did you do? well, every week, you'll always be absent without reasons for one time, you've been caught skipping classes, smoking and fighting outside school. and you've been smoking in school since week one.

that's what made you earn your title, and you weren't really proud of it. each time someone mentions your name, their friends would go, "oh you mean the worst student?"

you hated it. you weren't exactly that bad, heck, if people looked at you for the first time, they'll actually think you're those typical good girls who goes home straight after school, no monkey business at all.

you are a quiet person, a pacifist actually. you stood up against what was wrong and always helped out those people who were in danger.

like what you did for a girl in year two who was being bullied by a group of boys. you literally leaped at the group of them and gave them a flying kick to the face. you were definitely proud of it, in a wrong way i guess.

and the reason why you were absent from school was because you needed a break. once a week, you'd skip school to play volleyball at the sports hall with people older than you.

there was a guy who sparked your interest, he had deep black hair and midnight blue eyes. he is karasuno's official setter and you really wanted to see him play, but you always had detention so you don't have the time for it.

what you didn't know was, this guy named kageyama tobio is curious about who you are.

in class, you sat at the last row while he was at the table next to yours, but you two didn't have a conversation at all. he occasionally looked at you while you did the same.

it was just another typical school day and in the middle of literature lesson, the principal came to your class with a stern look on his face.

everyone greeted him in sync and the teacher stood aside while he spoke.

"there has been complaints from other classes that their belongings were missing after they came back from lunch break. and i'm guessing it should be someone from this class as it is the only class that didn't have missing belongings," by this time, everyone shared whispers and the principal cleared his throat.

"i'm giving you a chance to admit to your mistake now, stand up and follow me," he said and waited for someone to stand up.

your classmates exchanged glances, confused. surprisingly none of them suspects you but the principal wasn't convinced.

"no one? very well then, (last name)-san, please follow me to my office now," he snarled and you furrowed your brows, taken aback by the sudden accusation.

"what? i didn't do anything though," you hissed and shot him a glare.

without wavering, the principal continued, "in this whole school, you're the only one capable of this incident and only you have the guts to. now stand up and follow me!" he raised his voice.

"that doesn't mean anything, my behaviour doesn't define my actions. i didn't do it!" your voice shook with anger and it was close to breaking.

"i'm expecting to see you in my office by this week. if you don't show up, i will have to suspend you and report you to the police."

with that, he left the class and a piece of awkward silence filled the room. your teacher coughed and held a gentle smile, "(last name)-san, why don't you go take a break, go for a walk around the school garden maybe?"

you stood up slowly and lowered your head, your classmates looked at you in pity and you thanked your teacher, while leaving the class. you were certain you heard a "you need it".

you walked down the corridor, thinking hard about who would be so bold to resort to stealing. nothing came to mind and you felt you were being wronged. well you are being wronged.

you sat on the bench in the garden, holding your head in your hands before letting all the tears you've been holding back fall.

it seemed like forever since you shed a tear, and you couldn't stop crying. when you were done, you looked at the ground and sniffled.

"are you okay?" a deep voice broke your train of thoughts.

you shot your head up and saw a ravenette staring down at you with his usual cold expression but his eyes held concern.

you nodded and he knelt down in front of you, staring into your eyes. you showed confusion and he blinked, "if you want to rant, i'm here to listen so, yeah."

you were surprised by how straightforward he was and didn't know what to say. it was embarrassing to cry in front of him and it became awkward.

"just rant. i have lots of time."

"don't you have class?"

"you mean 'we'."

"tsk."

"i believe you."

"what?" you scoffed.

"i believe you didn't steal from others."

a small, grateful smile crept onto your face and he noticed that. he returned a small smile as well and both of you sat on the bench, letting the wind caress your faces.

"there's a practice match tomorrow, come watch us play alright?" he glanced at you.

the bell interrupted the little moment you were sharing and he stood up, ready to leave.

"play volleyball with me soon, (last name)-chan," he waved.

"h-how did you know i play volleyball?" you asked.

"the tapes around your fingers."

he never fail to surprise you, and your heart raced against your chest.

"you sure bring lots of surprises huh, kageyama tobio..."
