college was hard. classes were hectic and the lessons were on another level compared to high school.

you barely made it to college. to be honest, you weren't made for studying. you lived and breathed for sports, that's why you decided to enroll to a college which has elite sportsmen and sportswomen.

in the college you were studying at, people were realistic. there were three different groups of people - the top students, rich students and students who was at the bottom of the ranks.

you were at the top ten bottom of the list, considering you came in 197 out of the 200 at the midterms.

being friends with iwaizumi in high school was fun. you would hang out with the seijoh volleyball players after school and also, you were the manager of the club.

in high school, your grades were slightly above average. but that was because you studied till the wee hours a few weeks before the exams.

during that phase, iwaizumi would sneak out of his house to yours, helping you study and get to the college you wanted.

you were thankful for that, he had always been a great friend to you even though you only met him in the second year of high school.

in seijoh, you were quite popular. guys would give you love letters every week and swoon over you.

however, things took a turn in college. you were being outcasted and you clearly saw the difference between you and other girls.

they were taller, prettier and smarter than you, which caused your confidence to shrink everyday.

finals were just a month away, and you couldn't help but feel nervous. you didn't want to come in into the last few again.

girls despised you because of how close you and iwaizumi hajime was. they would push you when your best friend wasn't around and mock you for your inability to study.

recently, you were feeling nervous and inferior when hanging out with the spiker. he was the youngest player on the team, and recently his team won at the inter-college volleyball match.

first place with the title 'mvp', that just made things worse for you as girls were going crazy whenever he showed up at school.

all the attention was on him, and you were just a shadow no one acknowledged. you sighed once again and opened your locker, and many paper balls fell out at once, followed by vandalisms in your locker.

swiftly, you picked up the paper balls and shoved them into your bag pack, not wanting to attract unwanted attention.

-

"(y/n)!" you heard the familiar voice call from behind. turning around, you were met with his emerald orbs staring back at yours.

he had a smile on, one that you could get used to. "where are you going?" he asked. there were girls glaring at you behind his back and you shivered under those gazes.

"u-um, i was just going to the library to study," you answered uneasily.

he hummed in response and frowned, "don't push yourself too hard. it's okay if you don't get good grades, you know i don't really care about that."

a warm rush crept into your chest and you nodded, taking a few steps back and looked at him.

"i'll go now, you can go home without me," you waved and rushed off, not bothering to hear his reply or responding to his calls afterwards.

-

two hours passed and the orange glow from the sunset lit up the library vibrantly. it was then you realised that it was going to get dark soon. you were so immersed in your books and notes that you didn't know that so much time has passed.
