It was your first week in your new school, Nekoma High School, and you were running late. You sprinted towards the school and scaled the stairs in hopes that you can make it to your homeroom before the bell rings.
Just as you were about to climb the last flight of stairs, the bell rang and you groaned in defeat. There was a tall and lean figure at the top of the stairs, and he looked like a third year.
"You're late," he maintained a stern face and you muttered an apology. You slowly climbed up the stairs while trying to catch your breath from all the running.
"Name and class," he asked and stared into your eyes. His hair was messy and his fringe covered one of his eyes. Although he looked rugged, you could not deny the fact that he is a quite charismatic.
"I'm (your name) from Year 2 Class 3," I answered as he penned it down on a piece of paper. He gave me a small smile and went off.
As I stared at him, another senior called out. "What are you doing here? Go to class now!"
I shrieked and scurried off to my homeroom, trying to get my mind off the weird guy earlier.
Meanwhile, at Kuroo's side.
He gathered with his fellow volleyball team mates during lunchtime, and he grinned.
"I talked to the new girl today, she's totally my type," his face turned pinkish as he clutched onto the piece of paper, as if afraid to lose to.
"Whoa, really? What's her name?" Yamamoto asked and received a side glare from his captain.
"Her name is (your name), from Class 3. Don't you dare hit on her, I'll break your limbs if you do," Kuroo huffed and Yamamoto sulked.
A few guys laughed at Kuroo's statement and Yamamoto's reaction. The team continued to eat their lunch. while talking about volleyball.
For the next few weeks, Kuroo pretended to be a member of the school council. He did all that with an excuse to get closer to you.
"(Your name), you're late again."
"(Your name), you forget to bring your tie."
"No talking in the library, (your name)!"
Within just three weeks, Kuroo gave you several demerits and one day, you could not take it anymore.
"No flirting in school, (your name). A demerit for y-"
"Can you leave me alone?" You scowled and attracted many pairs of eyes and their attention to you, Kuroo and your male friend.
Kuroo looked slightly taken aback as he had his brows raised and his mouth opened.
"Give me as many demerits as you want, I seriously don't care anymore," you huffed. You felt like you were watched 24/7 by this upperclassman, which annoys you.
You do have a crush on him, and the fact that he is humiliating you like that just ruins your day. You spun on your heel and walked away, and you stopped when you heard the small crowd laughing.
"Kuroo, since when do you give demerits?" One of the girls cackled.
"Yeah! Are you trying to be a good person? Haha!" Another guy teased and the crowd roared in laughter.
You watched in amusement and became confused. What was his motive? Does he dislike me so much that he wants me to get kicked out of school or something?
Seconds passed and the crowd was still joking around, but Kuroo took slow steps towards you and took you by the hand, leading you to an empty corridor.
The touch of his hand was soft and warm, as he led you away from the crowd, the students were whistling and giggling.
As the both of you stood in the middle of an empty corridor, silence fell. He avoided your gaze and you decided to break the ice.
"So, who are you actually?" Your tone came out irritated but you were feeling differently. You were looking forward to a positive answer.
"I'm Kuroo Tetsurou, the captain of the boys' volleyball team and I'm a third year," he introduced himself truthfully and you asked again.
"What's the point of doing all that?"
He met your eyes for a second and cleared his throat, "I thought it was a good way to get your attention, but I guess it's a bad idea since you probably think I'm some idiot."
You let out a chuckle and he was surprised by your change of mood. You regained your composure and your cheeks were flushed.
"That's not how you woo a girl, senpai," you added the last word and his cheeks turned red. You skipped away and shouted from a distance.
"Try again, Kuroo-senpai!" You winked and disappeared around the corner.
Kuroo nearly let out a squeal from all the excitement he was holding back and he yelled, "Yes!"
