Reward

-

You were a really hot tempered person, and you are actually quite feared by the students.

You were in the school's volleyball team, and a match is around the corner, making you train harder.

You've always wanted to be the captain or vice-captain, as you felt that you're responsible and strong enough to lead the team.

However, things didn't turn out your way. Your best friend was the captain, and a girl who everyone disliked became the vice captain.

Every training when the teacher or coach wasn't around, she'd boss everyone around and let you pick all the balls, mop the floor and clean up the gym.

One day, while the teacher was here, you snapped, in front of the whole team. It was because she replaced you and took your starting position away as a setter and you became a substitute.

It all started with your friends' muttering.

"I don't get it, why would coach replace you, (Y/N)."

"Yeah I know right, (Y/N) is more skillful, she should've been the vice captain!"

"Whoever chose her as the vice captain must have no taste."

A scowl plastered on the vice captain's face, and she marched over to your group of friends, growling, "If you have so much time to chit chat then I guess you should help me pick some balls!"

Everyone had a annoyed face plastered, and just as they are about to walk away, the captain spoke, "I'm talking to my friends about important things, you shouldn't interrupt."

"Captain, please don't chit chat during training, we have a match coming up," the vice captain fake smiled.

"What's the point of training when we don't have a setter?" Your best friend who is the captain, spoke, taking a step nearer towards her.

"As you can see, I'm the setter now. So get to training," she almost yelled, and you stepped in.

"What's the point in training if we don't feel team spirit?" You shot, and she widened her eyes.

Grabbing your bag, you slung it over your shoulders.

"I won't come back unless..." You said, leaving the last part out.

"Unless you return me what you took away," you whispered to yourself, anger boiling inside of you.

-

Now, you were sitting on the ledge of the rooftop, thinking about volleyball as the breeze kept hitting you on your face.

You silently thought to yourself how much you wanted to go back and how much you hated the vice captain, and that made you refuse to go back.

The tears flowed out of your eyes, the tears that you've been holding back in had finally broke through, and they can't seem to stop.

The bell rang, and it was time to go back to class, which you dreaded.

As you stood up and brushed of the dirt on your skirt, you nearly fell over and a large palm gripped onto your wrist, pulling you away from the heights.

"Kuroo-kun, thank you," you muttered, feeling slightly shocked and embarrassed at your clumsiness.

"Have you been crying?" He asked, and you chuckled bitterly, mumbling a 'no'.

"What happened, tell me," he leaned on the wall, waiting for your story.

"Just, some stuff happened," you said, not knowing how to start off. He cocked a brow, and sighed.

"Your best friend told me," he tilted his head, his eyes on me and wanting to hear what would I say.

"I don't know what to do, matches are coming up and I really don't wanna lose," you breathed out, "And I'm not even a regular anymore," you ended, your lips trembling.

"I'll help you out," he offered, a confident smile playing on his lips. You shook your head and rejected, but he insisted.

"Let's go!" He clapped his hands and pulled your wrist, leading you to the staff office.

"What are we doing here?" You whispered, not wanting to catch any teacher's attention.

"Confrontation," he smirked, and you gulped nervously at what would he do.

"O-oi, don't do anything reckless," you warned, and he nodded and shushed you.

"Yo, sensei," he greeted, and your volleyball teacher in charge said a concerned 'yes'.

Kuroo started to blabber questions about why was the vice captain so rude and ill mannered, and why are you replaced by her. You felt grateful that you had such a wonderful friend, and remained silent hearing him speak.

As he spoke, he suddenly slammed his powerful hand down on the table, making a cup of coffee spill over the table.

"Let her be a regular again," he growled, and the dean came walking in on what happened.

"O-okay, fine," your volleyball teacher agreed, but bad news was the dean scolded the both of you for intruding and making a ruckus.

-

"Kuroo-kun, thank you for helping me," you smiled widely, a small blush evident on your cheeks.

Just as you are about to head into the gym, he called, "Wait!"

You stopped and spun around, wondering what he want. He said, "Shouldn't you give me a reward for helping you?"

Bewildered, you managed to stutter out, "R-reward? I don't have any thing to give you..."

He smirked and planted a soft kiss on your lips, and you inhaled a sharp breath, feeling your heart skip a beat and your face burn.

"Thank you for the reward," he whispered in your ear as he pulled away, walking away while saying, "Do your best."
