It didn't take me long to decide I had to call Guigsy. I needed my friend back, I'd been without friends like him for long enough.
George thought it was a bad idea but she didn't know him. She just about insisted I shouldn't do it. He wasn't on Noel or Liam's side, he didn't take sides. He wasn't going to cause trouble for me. She was just worried I'd take off, right back to them. Guigsy was no threat there, not ever.
I had to talk to him, I couldn't just let him think I was ignoring him. I just waited until she was at work, what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her.
I put on a high pitched fan girl voice. "Hi Guis'!" I purposefully pronounced it wrong Giggsy like the footballer like I'd heard them do.
"Yorkie!" He answered. "You're fooling no one."
I grinned. I always hated that nickname but now it felt good to hear it. I was glad he hadn't forgot or just dared to use it where Liam didn't.
"Damn it!"
"So you're back?"
"Like I've never been away." I confirmed although that wasn't the truth or I'd be right back at Supernova Heights with Noel. "You stayed away longer, didn't ya?"
None of us liked to talk about him having to leave for nervous exhaustion. They kept it from me for months because I was pregnant with Ste, I wouldn't have even found out about it if he hadn't joked about it. He came back though, true Oasis members always came back.
"I didn't return with a baby though."
"You should try it, you'd get a load of attention." I smirked, passing the subject by.
"Who do I shag then?"
"Noel. Always stay on Noel's side."
"That why you're exiled to be with the Scousers?"
I didn't feel like explaining all of that to him, not over the phone when we were having a laugh so I got him talking about something else he would enjoy. "Tell me about the cricket."
"Nothing to tell, it's the off season." he sounded disappointed.
"When's the on season then?"
"The summer, about when you left."
"You got to watch it in peace then, before the tour."
"Yeah. Got back and watched it all like a hermit." He started going on about different teams and matches before realising I'd vered him off course. "Tell me about how you met the brothers."
I pursed my lips although he couldn't see it. I'd made something of it when I tried to score coke off him. I didn't think he'd remembered there was a story to tell. "I can't tell you about that over the phone."
"You'll tell me when I come and see this baby."
"Will I?"
"You must've wanted to tell me."
"Forget about it Guis', it's not interesting. I was just gonna say what I'll say to get what I wanted."
"You make yoursen sound like a cokehead."
"And I'm not?"
"None of us are and I bet you've not had anything in your system since Knebworth." he countered.
"Chained to the mirror and the razor blade." I quoted Morning Glory.
"Dramatic Noel. Wouldn't get anywhere if he couldn't think up lyrics like that, would we?"
