I took the boys into town, just to use my car. We went into a few different shops, spent a while in Woolworths and Wilkinsons and other places like that. I purposefully made sure we went down the toys aisles so I could treat Ste. He ended up with a set of the characters from the Teletubbies, I didn't think he liked them that much when when he watched it on TV but I liked that it wasn't more cars. He gave Po, the smallest, red one to Nathan. We got Nathan a new noisy, brightly coloured toy bar for his pram and his car seat now he needed more entertainment.

When we were going past estate agents shops I kept stopping and having a look at the properties that they had in the window. I really wanted to be the one to put the next property on the table but I was having no luck finding anything, although I was keen to settle in another city which would mean looking for estate agents in that city.

Lydia asked about us using Liam's place as a stopgap but I couldn't ask him, after the world cup final, we were barely talking. He wouldn't agree to it but I did have his key, he didn't necessarily need to know.

We went into another shop where I decided to get inspiration for decorating our home, bedding, rugs, lamps, all those small things that could make wherever we ended up, ours.

I saw her smug look plastered all over her face and not for the first time in the day. It was like she was stalking me as I went around the shops. I knew there was a reason I didn't want to be back in Manchester.

"What are you staring at?" I confronted her.

"A reject." Louise sneered. "I knew he'd see sense and move on from you."

I hadn't seen her in ages. We had no reason to recognise each other let alone stop and chat. I never liked her when she was around and I didn't care for seeing her now. I didn't think she'd start anything with me, especially not in front of my children but here we were. She was Noel's ex, she was supposed to be well in the past.

"Like he did with you?" I replied quickly,

"I dumped him." she corrected, as far as I remembered her and Noel just had one too many arguments to keep going, especially after she'd learnt how close he was to me.

"Because he was only interested in me." I pointed out. "He couldn't stand your bitching."

"I heard you're back living at their mums, again. You're such a sad act. Is the plan to sponge off her forever?"

"Says the person following me and my boys around trying to bring me down." I should've let it go, ignored her looks but she just got to me.

"I'm not following you, why would I bother following you? You spoke to me."

"You were staring."

"I wasn't, I don't stare at low life, druggy, sluts like you."

"You don't know me, ya never did." I told her feeling the deja vu so hard.

"Do you know who them kids belong to?"

"if you're jealous, Noel wouldn't have given you anything if you had stayed together anyway since you hated everything he did." I told her, deciding to have the moral high ground of not arguing over things I have or haven't done that don't concern her.

"Jealous of you? You're hilarious."

"What're you doing here then?

"Wasting my time. What are you, a psycho?"

"Keep following me and you'll see."

"Why, what you gonna do?"

"It won't be pretty, believe me." I told her. "So leave me well alone before you find out Louise."
