Liam was right about not getting a dog. I hadn't exactly taken to caring for the cats when I only had one baby then. Dogs are better but they're also way more work. I still had a long way to go before I could add someone else to our family.

Just to prove that she wasn't leaving me out of the wedding preparations. Sinead held a meeting. I couldn't go to them so they came to me. I couldn't believe Liam had agreed to host all of us at his place but they turned up at the door.

Liam said he was going to leave us to it and take the kids out but I wouldn't let him. I didn't want to be worrying about where they were while I was with friends.

I introduced him to Fiona, Sinead's sister, Heather and Lydia. I introduced them to Ste too since he was by Liam's side. He had a fit when he realised Sinead was there and Sammy was not.

Liam took him away and I got stuck on apologizing for him. I never minded it when he acted up but it was always around family and I wanted him to express himself, this was different.

"He really loves that dog." Lydia said. "It's okay, we all know what two year olds are like. Don't we?"

The others agreed and I led them to the living room so we could talk. Even though they'd agreed it wasn't a problem I felt them judging me and us because my son wasn't a quiet little boy, especially when he wasn't happy.

"So what part of the wedding are we gonna try to tackle today?" I asked, trying to look positively.

"We thought it could be fun to start planning the hen night." Fiona said as they got sat down.

"Oh. Okay."

I hadn't realised a hen party was something that needed planning. It was just going out and getting drunk and letting the whole town know someone was getting married.

"We came up with a few ideas on the drive over." she pointed out.

"Let's hear them." I tried to sound excited as I took my seat.

Fiona started listing off ideas that were all just places we could go get plastered one night close to the wedding. I wasn't impressed. Obviously that was the done thing for hen and stags but if that was what we were doing I didn't see what there was to discuss.

"I forgot to ask if you all want drinks." I got up and insisted to get them drinks, taking off to the kitchen. "Tea?"

I was escaping. I wasn't sure I could go back in to them. I wished I could drag out making the tea for a very long time. I took ages to choose the cups, Liam didn't really have different sets or loads with different designs so there wasn't much of a choice.

I was about to get the tea bags when I felt someone behind me. I turned around and discovered it was Lydia.

"D'you need any help?"

"No, I've got it." I nodded.

"What's up? Did you have something different in mind for the hen night?"

"I haven't thought about it."

"Fiona wants to go full on tacky, the veil, the bride to be sash, the licence plates. And a bar crawl. Who put her in charge, right?"

"I can't drink!" I admitted. "I can't do it."

"Hey, you couldn't before and we still had fun." she tried to comfort me, taking my hand. "I'll make sure you stick to soft drinks."

I thought back to our first meeting, how we'd clicked so quickly. I'd used her to get back at someone who wasn't even real. I'd found out she was a lesbian and exploited it, she didn't deserve that from me. I really liked her so I couldn't go messing around like that again.
