No one had bought the old house yet. I kept asking the estate agent but apparently they didn't have much interest on it. I didn't mind, we weren't under much pressure to sell and I didn't want to let go. I would tell myself I was checking up on the place when I went over there. Still I made it my mission to at least look like I was trying to sell.
Sometimes I brought the boys and the dog but they didn't really like it because there was no toys and everything had to stay neat.
One time when we were there My phone rang. I hoped it wasn't Lydia so I wouldn't have to explain where we were. It wasn't, it was Noel. I rolled my eyes and answered.
"Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for letting me see the boys on fathers day. I love their card, I had it on the mantelpiece."
"It wasn't down to me."
"I know. I know it wasn't your writing."
"So you know you should be thanking Lydia."
"I did and I'm still thanking the mother and I'm asking if I can come up and see them again."
"Noel..."
"Stacy. No. It's not fair to keep telling me I can't see the kids cos we did something fucking stupid. We don't have to see each other. It's the kids that're missing out."
"We're going to the baby shower so if you're going I guess Peggy could bring them to you for a bit."
"I'm not but Meg is so I'll be at Supernova Heights."
"Thought you'd moved out of there?"
"We have mostly but we're using it to record and stuff."
"You best not go off trying to record stuff while they're there." I knew what he was like when he had music on the mind.
"No. I won't. Is your old place sold yet?"
"Nope." I sighed. "I'm there now trying to work out why."
"Ya need to learn to let go." he assumed I must be doing something to stop the process.
'We have let go. We put it on the market as soon as we moved out."
"That's only been a couple of months. Some places take ages. Just remember you're selling a house not the home you, Lydia and the kids had."
"I know. It's on the market for lower than it should be cos we just want to move on."
"That'll be the problem." he thought he knew everything, as usual. "People don't want to think they're getting cheap crap."
"Well I'm not putting the price up."
"Get some warm bread and fresh flowers. That's supposed to be good for selling houses."
"You think I should bake bread?" I asked, confused by that suggestion.
"No! Buy it. You don't want to burn the place down."
"I wouldn't. I don't know maybe we just leave it for a bit."
"What're you doing there if you're not showing people round?"
"I'm trying to figure out what's different here to at the new house with me and Lydia." I said since he'd only keep asking if I didn't tell the truth. "There's something different about us since we left."
"It's probably weird for her living in Liam's house, she won't be used to places like that like you are."
"No. She's fine with it. We like living there."
"Even if she's the most trusting she must be at least a bit suspicious of it."
"She's not."
"You never cheated while you were at that house?"
